Trisynthesis: Tragedy Always Happens In Threes

This morning I received a call from a friend a mine who was upset because she just heard about the death of Alan Rickman. She said she felt like she was in the middle of some strange synchronicity because at Christmas time, she was watching the movie, Die Hard, and that just recently she was watching the film, Dogma, directed by Kevin Smith. Both films feature Rickman in some of his best performances.

From a German terrorist in Diehard to a genderless angel in Dogma, Rickman had a way with a character that was unlike any other. Even When the film, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy made it to the screen, he brought Marvin the Robot to life, and made him his own.

Richman’s death announcement was a heavy blow, especially since the world was mourning the loss of David Bowie. Both Richman and Bowie’s lives were cut short at relatively early ages with cancer. Both Bowie and Richman died at the age of 69 and both were from England. A month before another British rock star Lemmy Kilmister of the Band Motor head died of Cancer just after his 70th birthday. David Bowie died just two days after his birthday.

While I was on the phone with my friend she commented about how deaths and tragedies come in threes. I was half awake when she told me this and I agreed with her and told her that maybe I should talk about this phenomenon on my show.

I have addressed numerological anomalies on my show many times. I have always seen patterns in everyday things and for some reason I felt uncomfortable seeing this pattern taking shape because all three of these celebrities were ones that I loved.

We have for some time on many shows have talked about what is called the collective unconscious and how it is our storage space of old memories and metaphors that eventually play an intricate role in the collective consciousness.

The idea of all tragedies coming in threes has been said to be an ancient mythology going back 6000 years. It has been said and thought of so many times that basically it has become truth in our minds.

It is somewhat disturbing to think that an unfounded notion that has been believed on a global level for thousands of years has now become truth in our consciousness. The truth is when we say that all tragedies happen in threes and believe that this is a reality then what we are unwittingly telling ourselves is that we are living in a structured matrix that we have no control over.

It is a way to resolve or to confirm and idea of predestination and that thing may not be as random as we think they are.

Things like intuition, déjà vu, premonition, reverse causality, channeling, and divination all fit into the dialogue when we speculate about a structured existence.

Other phrases that we hear when confirming a structured existence is “Things happen for a reason” or “This appears to be the will of god” meaning we really don’t have any control in our lives on earth and that there is a grand triune plan where some win, some lose and some die.

Karl Jung who from time to time commented on this subject, said:

“The unconscious mind has a thousand ways of terminating a life that has become meaningless. In other words you can cross a street and get hit by a car if you don’t pay attention to the timing of things. The timing and distance plays a role in whether or not that car runs you down. The timing of how fast the driver sees you and hits the brakes determines if you are hit or not. However in a structured matrix the analysis of the close call or even the direct hit is a decision that has been made at a higher level.

Call it God, call it luck either way there are uniform patterns that emerge that make the mind think that something or someone is controlling the world from the shadows. Meaningful synchronicity is a type dialogue in a sense between the unconscious mind, the conscious mind and what we think subconsciously is a control mechanism that creates fate.”

Karl Jung coined the term, synchronicity and defined it simply as the coming together of all inner and outer events in a way that cannot be explained by cause and effect and that is meaningful to the observer.

This is in simple terms is “meaningful coincidence.”

It can be seen as magic – and many psychologists would say that if someone sees meaningful coincidences in everything they would speculate that they are experiencing magical thinking. Seeing patterns in things however is a normal thing. Some are more capable of it than others.

The idea that tragedies come in threes is a byproduct of how it seems that most things that matter in our programming come in threes.

From the heart, the mind, and the body, to the holy trinity the pattern of three is something that we take for granted. When we are children we sing about three blind mice and read about the three little pigs. There is the old nursery rhyme, Rub a dub dub three men in a tub, the butcher, the baker, and the candlestick maker and the three musketeers.

Religion teaches us that there is the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, and, there were three wise men at the birth of Christ.

In the New Testament, Peter denies Jesus 3 times before the cock would crow 3 times. Jesus was one of three men hanging on a cross during the crucifixion. We also learn that his body rose from the grave after three days inside a tomb. Most religions teach of birth, death and resurrection or reincarnation.

There is also the philosophical triad of thesis, antithesis and synthesis, and even the setup of many jokes seems to stem in part from a natural resonance with the number three. Such as a priest, a minister and a rabbi go into a bar – and well – the punch line follows.

There is yesterday, today and tomorrow a pattern of three that align with what is part of the past, present and future, another pattern of three.

Three is the first odd prime number, the triangle is a stable shape, in our base 10 system, and the fraction 1/3 is .3333333. Believe it or not whenever someone says I am thinking of a number between one and ten—odds are they are thinking of three or the answer given as three. If not then the answer is usually 7.

Concepts or ideas presented in threes are inherently more interesting, more enjoyable, and more memorable.

There are the three inalienable rights voiced in the U.S. Declaration of Independence “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; Superman fights for “truth, justice, and the American way” and of course there is there is “sex, drugs, & rock n’ roll.”

Speaking of rock and roll…. Albert Goldman, who wrote the book “The Lives of John Lennon”, says that the reason we resonated with most Beatles songs was because some of the chord structures Lennon used were from Three Blind Mice. John Lennon used the melody of Three Blind Mice on the song My Mummy’s Dead. Also, some have suggested that, All You Need is Love, was based on Three Blind Mice.

The structure was so basic and easy to listen to that Josef Haydn included it in Symphone no. 83 (last movement), written during 1785-86.

Without the three patterns we feel off balance, some even conclude that in politics, the idea of ignoring a third party is what has created dissent and division in the United States, that there is an extended middle that is ignored and therefore this has created an independent thinkers movement on the internet which creates three sides to every story.

Another three is that all things have a beginning, middle and an end.

At the beginning of our life, at the time of our infancy we perceive ourselves apart from our surrounding environment. We understand in infant terms the wholeness of our existence. The perception of time and the perception of gender don’t matter to us. In the course of our development we learn to speak, develop gender identity , and start to notice patterns in order to survive. When we are small we sometimes speak of ourselves in the third person and project our anxieties and attitudes to a toy or a doll. This way it extends beyond the three of me, myself and I and creates an imaginary scapegoat or to coin the phrase third party.

When we experience coincidence, patterns form and cut new grooves into our brains and we begin to see events that grab our attention and distract us.

With childhood wonder, we start to see striking similarities between two independent events. This convinces you at a young age that something non random is going on. You then begin to realize that there appears to be an organized pattern and these patterns happen many times as you grow into adulthood.

Religion and science tries to explain these things as acts of God or mind tricks.

Beyond the scientific and religious dogma you feel that these patterns are communicating an important message or meaning that is not easily defined.

It can be a confirmation of some idea that you have had or drum up some fear that you have suppressed over time.

It has us questioning whether or not anything but pure chance is at work or is it an indication that are lives are structured and there is an even greater control that keeps us safe or plucks us from existence.

There is an old Shakespearean quote that I remember from King Lear that says “As flies to wanton boys, are we to the Gods. They play us for their sport.”

They may also play with our mind to let us know that they are in control. That is why we see that life happens in threes tragedies happen in threes, celebrities die in threes.

Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, the Big Bopper – three celebrities died on a plane crash together.

Johnny Cash, Warren Zevon and John Ritter all died in the same September week in 2003.

Suzanne Pleshette, Brad Renfro and Heath Ledger all assumed room temperature within a seven-day period in January of 2008.

Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett died on the same day in June of 2009; two days after Ed McMahon finally joined Carson in that great tonight show in the sky.

Ronnie James Dio, Gary Coleman and Dennis Hopper in 2010.

Now it is Lemmy, Bowie and Rickman within a few weeks of each other all about the same age, all succumbing to cancer and all having some significance in our lives.

Perhaps we can all see this as a way to try and piece together the idea that the universe has a plan for everyone and that sometimes that plan reveals things in patterns and synchronicities.

Is it destiny? Is it fate?

One thing for certain is that whatever events are happening, they are happening in threes, or in other random numbers and patterns that are building one on top of the other, one by one, two by two or three by three.

I have been saying that in 2016 you should do three important things – think twice and act once.

Maybe then things can all come together in some life changing agreement.
