The Might of Listening
This is a Guest Column by Seweryn Vecchia
It seems so easy to forget how powerful & useful it is to listen to our fellow human beings.
In this day and age many people wish to speak but never care to listen.
With the age of communication, we all live with a cell phone, email, texts, blogs, tweeter, Facebook etc. One would think that the people of this world would be master listeners.
Many Politicians and news organizations state their opinions and beliefs with great conviction. Now when it’s there turn to listen they simple hear words and never use any critical thoughts, feeling, and or emotion in this process. They simple ramble on without ever answering the question/s.
There own selfish need for money, power, might etc is the only thing that these individuals listen to.
There is a vast amount of energy that people could save by simply listening, understanding, and hearing our fellow-man/women.
Misunderstand & assumptions tend to arise because of the lack of listening and that people wish to only state their view and or opinion.
It’s a wonderful thing that people are speaking and expressing their opinion so often in this age but the art and might of listening has been lost in the sands of selfishness and egoism.
The Billy Meier case is a good example of either good listeners or bad listeners. There are the ones who look at the case up and down, side to side, left to right, and back around.
On the other side of the coin are the ones that refuse to listen because it challenges their ego, beliefs, understanding, worldview etc.
People must strive towards listening to achieve an understanding, and or commonality of the other. To do so creates a harmony and a peace between us even if our view and opinions differ.
One can learn so much about his/her fellow-man/women if we just take the time to listen and not just to the words but the inflection, pitch, pace/speed, body language and emphasis of the words that are spoken.
There is often some feelings/emotion when words are spoken and we have to listen to this as well. As we are listening we have to take in the words, feelings, and emotion of the speaker. The listener should listen carefully enough to see the speaker’s view, his/her view and most importantly a neutral-positive view of the matter to have clarity.
Listening doesn’t stop at just other people we also need to listen to our self, the inner voice, and the inner teacher. Listen in the quiet. There are so many things in moments of quietness that doesn’t need any form of words.
Listen to the intuition telling you to avoid this person or that thing.
Listen to your own thoughts and feelings they will tell you the path you’re heading towards.
Listen to the love in your heart it’s the reason we are all here.
Listening show respect to each other by being a good listener we confirm the worth of others. As Billy Meier has stated in the past we people of all kinds are of equal value.
