Shock: New Poll Could Shake up the 2018 GOP Outlook

It’s been bad news for Republicans for months, but this new poll could completely change how we think of the 2018 election!

Newly elected Rep. Paul Ryan of Wis., accompanied by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of Calif., points towards his family in the gallery in the House Chamber on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015. Republicans rallied behind Ryan to elect him the House’s 54th speaker on Thursday as a splintered GOP turned to the youthful but battle-tested lawmaker to mend its self-inflicted wounds and craft a conservative message to woo voters in next year’s elections. It’s only one poll, but it confirms a trend we’ve been seeing a while. The tax bill has done a lot to make the right comfortable with re-electing Republicans to the Congress, after months of dismal failures.

Politico is a hard left outfit, but their poll has Republicans taking the lead 39-38 in the generic ballot. Before the tax bill, Democrats had a 13 point lead in the poll average, and the poll average remains D+6.6 going into today.

An R+1 result is surely an outlier, but that an outlier with a Republican lead is even possible, suggests Republicans have gained ground over the last 2 months.
