Another Day, Another Unstoppable Strategy to Prevent Brett Kavanaugh’s Nomination

The singular most interesting thing that is happening with the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court is watching the hard left tie themselves in knots convincing themselves that they have the power to stop Kavanaugh’s confirmation. SPOILER ALERT: The Don’t.
This past week they’ve tried to argue that since President Trump or his campaign might have violated campaign finance laws, that Trump was not legitimately elected and therefore he doesn’t have the right to nominate anyone. Apparently the morons making this claim were either in utero or comatose when the ChiComs pumped millions into Bill Clinton’s 1996 reelection campaign. They’ve questioned his purchase of baseball tickets. They are demanding the emails of both Kavanaugh and his wife. Some of them are really explosive:
The number of Kavanaugh documents is a completely meaningless number.
Just one example. pic.twitter.com/66Kx86Pnd8— Steven Dennis (@StevenTDennis) August 24, 2018
And they are still mewling about this being Marlon Gerrick’s seat (or something like that).
But the most hilarious results come when the left tries to plot out a parliamentary move that can’t be overcome. Now if the House of Representatives can literally make the clock stop in order to complete a vote on a given day, it should be obvious that anyone who claims that there is a parliamentary move that can’t be defeated by the majority is an imbecile. But the great thing about Twitter is that imbeciles abound and shamelessly call attention to themselves.
The Constitution provides the Senate must have a majority of its members (51) present to conduct business. Without McCain the GOP only has 50. If Schumer is even half of McConnell, he’ll hold all 49 DEM Senators out of the Senate to prevent a vote on Kavanaugh.

Refusing to be part of quorum should be easier than voting against 4 red state Dems, Jones & Manchin. Given McConnell’s refusal to hold any hearings on Garland, GOP’s hiding Kavanaugh’s record & Trump’s illegitimacy, any politician should be able to make this case to constituents

Pence is not a part of this equation. The vice president can only vote to break a tie.

The biggest “if” is whether McCain can remain in office long enough to avoid Arizona’s GOP Governor from replacing him with an appointee who’ll show up and make the quorum.

Here’s an opp for Corker or Flake to make a major impact simply by not showing up 4 the vote. Unexpected to be sure.

Let’s get rid of the easy part of this idiocy to begin with. Flake and Corker are going to vote for Kavanaugh. There is no reason for them not to. Kavanaugh is their kind of Republican. He has the right pedigree. He knows which fork to use. He’s not going to blow his nose into the napkin.
To understand how deranged this is, let’ go to the Senate’s rules.
quorum – The number of senators that must be present for the Senate to do business. The Constitution requires a majority of senators (51) for a quorum. Often, fewer senators are actually present on the floor, but the Senate presumes that a quorum is present unless the contrary is shown by a roll call vote or quorum call.
So if no Democrats show up, McConnell will presume there is a quorum and there will be no quorum call and Kavanaugh will be confirmed by unanimous consent, that is, without a roll call vote.
If one Democrat shows up to prevent this from happening, there are 51 Senators present and, therefore, a quorum.
It is highly amusing to watch these brilliant strategists plot their moves but the bottom line is this: absent something on the order of a thermonuclear exchange, Brett Kavanaugh will be on the bench with the next session of the Supreme Court opens.
