Trump, on Acosta Coming Back: ‘We’ll Throw Him Out’

As you’ve surely heard, Jim Acosta is back in.

The poster-child for the death of news (here, here, and here…and everywhere else, too) is back in the White House crew.

Certainly, not everyone’s happy about that, including other journalists.

On Friday, President Trump sat down with Fox’s Chris Wallace to discuss his intention regarding future press conferences impacted by Jim’s extreme lack of professionalism.

Chris asked Donald this thoughts on the court-mandated return of goofiness:

“A federal judge who you appointed has just ruled that you must give CNN reporter Jim Acosta his press pass back. Your reaction to the ruling, sir.”

Trump postured as the Fonz:

“Yeah, it’s fine. I mean, it’s not a big deal.”

That’s Trump — black leather jacket, covering a white undershirt with a sleeve-rolled pack of Lucky Strikes, Jack!

Trump explained that the court which reinstated Jim prescribed rules going forward:

“What they said, though, is that we have to create rules and regulations for conduct etc. etc.”

As indicated by RedState’s Brandon Morse, Trump’s prepared to stop the press briefing if Acosta causes another problem:

“We’re doing that, were going to write them up right now. It’s not a big deal, and if he misbehaves…we’ll stop the news conference.”

Wallace inquired as to what rules might be followed:

“What are your rules going to be? What is it that you’re saying?”

Trump pointed out that other reporters are perpetually blocked out by Jim’s rampant ball-hogging ways:

“We’re writing them now. We’ll have rules of decorum — you know, you can’t keep asking questions. We had a lot of reporters in that room — many, many reporters in that room, and they were unable to ask questions because this guy gets up and starts, you know, doing what he’s supposed to be doing for him and for CNN and, you know, just shouting out questions and making statements, too.”

Trump plans to use pressure from other reporters:

“But I will say this: Look, nobody believes in the First Amendment more than I do, and if I think somebody is acting out of sorts, I will leave I will say, ‘Thank you very much, everybody, I appreciate you coming,’ and I’ll leave. And those reporters will not be too friendly to whoever it is that’s acting up.”

The best — and most Trumpish — part of the interview was when Trump pointed to another way of dealing with Jim’s foolin’ around:

“We’ll throw him out.”

I saved the best for last. Here’s the full quote:

“[I]f he misbehaves, we’ll throw him out or we’ll stop the news conference.”

I predict a throw-out in Trump and Acosta’s future. A very, very near future.
