CNN Sandbags Local Television Station Report on the Border Wall for the Most Obvious of Reasons

One of the most pervasive bits of nonsense floating around is that “walls don’t work.” Walls actually do work. Critics like to point at the Great Wall and the Maginot Line. Both of those were very successful. The Great Wall worked as advertised until internal disunity prevented it being manned and maintained and the Mongols elected to ride around it. The Maginot Line successfully defended the French frontier but failed to keep the Germans from invading via Belgium. (Actually, my favorite critique is that it is a “medieval solution to a modern problem.” Actually, it is a medieval solution to a medieval problem. Population migrations and barbarian invasions are not uniquely modern issues.)
Yesterday, CNN’s Jim Acosta was at the border wall to show there is no crisis there, inadvertently showing exactly what the wall is able to accomplish. (See Elizabeth Vaughn’s excellent take on this.)
The Acosta story seems to have been the result of CNN’s dislike for what was actually happening.
CNN apparently called independently owned television station KUSI in San Diego for a local prospective on the wall. KUSI was only too happy to oblige. They’ve covered the border wall in the past.
Thursday morning, CNN called the KUSI Newsroom asking if one of our reporters could give them a local view of the debate surrounding the border wall and government shutdown.
KUSI offered our own Dan Plante, who has reported dozens of times on the border, including one story from 2016 that was retweeted by former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, and posted on DrudgeReport.com. The Border Fence Tour is below.
The problem is that KUSI has documented the problems with the immigrant caravans and the success of the border wall in making area along the border safe. CNN never followed up.
We believe CNN declined a report from KUSI because we informed them that most Border Patrol Agents we have spoken to told us the barrier does in fact work.
We have continuously been told by Border Patrol Agents that the barrier along the Southern border helps prevent illegal entries, drugs, and weapons from entering the United States, and the numbers prove it.

There is absolutely nothing strange about this story at all. For the past two years, CNN has demonstrated that it has a de minimis interest in informing either of its viewers on current affairs and public policy issues and sees itself as part of the anti-Trump #Resistance when it isn’t acting as the public relations agency for the Democrat party. The very fact that CNN would refuse to show local perspective on the wall when those views run counter to CNN’s political objectives tells you just about all you need to know about that network and its veracity.
Dear Diary, today I accidentally argued in front of the entire world that border security requires real barriers, when I meant to say the opposite and grandstand against the President. But then I had a Whopper so I feel better. https://t.co/1xQZhDW0u6
