SNOPES Claims Without Evidence That Alexandria Ocasio Cortez Is Actually Smarter Than a Salamander

During the early days of the internet, Snopes.com was a valuable resource. It relentlessly cataloged the rumors that circulated back in those Wild West days. It also did some admirable work researching Urban Legends such as the “choking Doberman” and the “vanishing hitchhiker.” But in the past few years, Snopes has become just another leftwing ghetto that tirelessly proclaims any statement by a conservative or Republican as not true if they simply don’t like the implications. They frequently engage in fact checking opinions and proclaiming non-progressive, non-PC opinions as wrong.

Sometimes hilarity ensues.

An internet meme circulated after November’s election that is pretty brutal:

For reasons that escape me, Snopes decided it was dangerous enough to Democrats to rate an official debunking.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is dumber than a salamander?

While the other three claims in this meme were at least rooted in something from conspiracy theory to news reports, the description of Ocasio-Cortez was nothing more than an ad hominem insult. Out of curiosity, however, we attempted to find the average IQ of a salamander but were unable to unearth any credible studies relating to IQ tests for amphibians.

IQ tests for humans do exist, but it should be noted that they aren’t the best method for measuring intelligence. We weren’t able to find any credible reports about Ocasio-Crotez’ IQ, but it’s reasonable to assume that the youngest woman ever to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives is more intelligent than your average salamander (and possibly most meme makers to boot).

This is pretty lame and so typical of Snopes. They offer no proof that their evaluation is correct (how about a head-to-head match up between Ocasio Cortez and a typical salamander on marginal tax rates and how many jobs you have to work to bring down the unemployment rate). And then they simply go to name calling (for the record, I’d be very hesitant at equating winning a Congressional seat with intelligence). While the AOC thing was just fun, the stories about Ihlan Omar marrying her brother have a documentary basis while her denial doesn’t. Likewise, the stories of Menendez cavorting with underage Dominican hookers is nowhere near as unsubstantiated as Snopes claims. Keith Ellison is a woman-beating piece of crap.

Snark aside, this idiocy demonstrates the degree to which Snopes has ceased being a fact check group and become a part of the Democrat media apparatus.
