Sunday Respite – Intermezzo

We celebrated Punxsutawney Phil’s proclamation at Gobbler’s Knob yesterday, predicting an early Spring. A reminder that we anxiously await Mother Earth’s awakening once again as did the ancients before us.

It is also Candlemas a Christian holiday celebrated annually on February 2. It celebrates three occasions according to Christian belief: the presentation of the child Jesus; Jesus’ first entry into the temple; and it celebrates the Virgin Mary’s purification (mainly in Catholic churches). Imbolc is a Gaelic tradition that celebrates the Mother Earth in preparation for returning spring. It reminds us that Sun gets brighter, the day gets longer, and frozen world has just a few more weeks left before the soil starts to awaken and stir a new life. It is a time of promise for renewal and hidden potential, time to let go of the past and focus on the future by clearing the mind & heart for new inspirations and beginnings.
