Ocasio-Cortez’s Social Justice Goals In Her “Green New Deal” Proves She Lives In a Fantasy Land

I’ve always considered Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s understanding of how the world works to be grade school level, and all of her gaffes aside, I can point to her proposed “Green New Deal” as the main piece of evidence that she’s more fit to be a character in a cartoon on children’s television than a congresswoman.

My apologies to any cartoon characters that insults.

AOC seems to believe that her “Green New Deal,” a plan to move us into 100% renewable energy usage, won’t just make the world cleaner, but it will make every social problem we’ve ever encountered since we first learned to distrust differences suddenly go away.

She first made mention of this last December as I’ve written previously:

“[W]e can use the transition to 100 percent renewable energy as the vehicle to truly deliver and establish economic, social and racial justice in the United States of America,” said Ocasio-Cortez.

How it will do so was not explained. It just will. Peasant.

NPR got a hold of Ocasio-Cortez’s bill and found that, not only does the congresswoman believe she can solve racism and income inequality with her Green New Deal, but that she’ll be able to “mobilize every aspect of American society on a scale not seen since World War 2.”

AOC believes that if we don’t do change over to green energy, we’ll all die in 12 years. As such, she’s taking the old Democrat fantasy of uniting the people into the moral equivalent of war, where everyone happily sacrifices things in order to achieve victory of breathtaking odds.

Only we’re not facing down a bloodthirsty regime seeking world domination. It’s a theory about the future of our climate that is usually delivered to the public through bad data and sensationalistic rhetoric.

But it won’t just save the world and stop racism, it’ll also give us paid vacations and high-quality health care according to the Daily Caller:

Ocasio-Cortez’s non-binding resolution calls for a variety of social justice and welfare state goals, including “a family-sustaining wage, adequate family and medical leave, paid vacations and retirement security” and “high-quality health care” benefits for Americans.

The resolution calls for “repairing historic oppression” among certain groups, including minorities, immigrants, women, low-income workers, indigenous people and youth collectively called “frontline and vulnerable communities.”

The call to “promote justice and equity” among those groups is seen as one of the “Green New Deal’s” primary goals by its architects. The House resolution has more than 20 cosponsors, according to a fact-sheet also obtained by NPR.

If I was talking to a five-year-old about how to solve the world’s problems, I would get a solution that looks just like the Green New Deal. Honestly, I wish I could take it seriously, but this is pure fantasy.

Senior fellow at the Institute for Energy Research, Dan Kish, put it very eloquently to the DCNF, and even managed to use the word “farts.”

“A six page, non-binding resolution marketed as a ‘War Plan’ proves Congressman Cortez isn’t prepared and hasn’t done her homework,” said Kish, adding “running the world’s greatest economy on unicorn farts and rainbow stew all run by masterminds in Washington DC is a fool’s errand.”

Skimming over the bill myself, I found something that looked more like a socialist wish-list than an actual solution to any of the problems we have. AOC guarantees strong union jobs and affordable housing for everyone.

Here are the realities.

For one, the Green New Deal would cost us $7 trillion, and judging by how expensive government projects tend to be, I’m willing to be that’s a conservative estimate.

What’s more, the countries we would be indebted to in order to get the rare earth materials needed to build all the renewable energy devices we would need would include China and Russia. Two countries who don’t have our best interests in mind, and one of which I was told the Democrats consider a grand enemy.

AOC is aiming for Utopia, and it’s a place that doesn’t exist in this reality.
