The Iranian Naval forces fired several home-made cruise missiles and torpedoes from the country’s vessels and submarines on the second day of wargames in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

Iranian naval forces on Friday started a massive three-day drill, codenamed ‘Velayat 97, in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

The drills are being held in an area of two million square kilometers, from the Strait of Hormuz to the Southeastern coasts of Makran, the Sea of Oman and the Northern parts of the Indian Ocean, down to the 10-degrees latitude.

On the second day of the wargames on Saturday, Naqdi destroyer and Tabarzin missile-launching frigate fired two home-made Qader and Qadir cruise missiles at the targets.

In addition to the vessels, the coast-to-sea missile-launching systems of the Navy fired Qader cruise missiles at hypothetical enemy targets, destroying it.

Qader and Qadir missiles have a range of 250km and 300km respectively and can be fired from vessels and coast-to-sea launchers and aircraft.

Also, the Iranian Navy’s Tareq submarine fired an electric torpedo, and the Qadir submarine fired a home-made Valfajr torpedo at targets.

Meantime, an SH helicopter of the Army destroyed hypothetical enemy’s target with a Mark 46 torpedo.

Also, during the drills, the Navy’s drones which are equipped with different types of bombs attacked the hypothetical enemy and the air defense units of the Navy intercepted and downed a hypothetical enemy drone.

In another development on Saturday, the Navy’s hovercrafts successfully fired surface-to-surface cruise missiles in the drills, smashing targets in long distances successfully.

Eight people have been arrested so far in connection with the terrorist attack that took place in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, said the head of the Provincial Justice Department of Sistan-Baluchestan Province.

A suicide attack on a bus, carrying Islamic Republic Guard Corps (IRGC) personnel, martyred 27 and wounded 13 in southeastern Iran on February 12th. A terrorist group so-called Jaish al-Adl, affiliated to Al-Qaida, claimed responsibility for the incident.

Ibrahim Hamidi said that one of the detainees who is the owner of the exploded car is a woman that was arrested based on solid evidence.

‘When examining her house, parts of the exploded car were found,’ he noted.

He added that as soon as the court verdict is issued, it will be announced publicly.

The official further said that security forces had in their search operations in Khash and Saravan, in southeastern Iran, also found 750 kilograms of explosives, 150 kilograms of which were ready for terror attacks, said Hamidi.

Regarding assassination of a traffic police officer recently, he said three people have been arrested so far and valuable clues have been found.
