How a Trump Tweet Could Upstage Green New Deal

What if President Trump sent out the following Twitter “tweet”?

“Clinton & Gore started the illegal secret patent office program that blocked anti-global warming devices and cleaner energy. I will end the Democrats’ war on innovation and achieve goals of the Green New Deal in less time at far less cost.”

What does this tweet mean? The previous three articles in this series reported on Denver citizens’ proposal to create a local patent office for “protecting extraordinary technologies”. Their aim is to counter damage from the illegal SAWS program at the U.S. Patent Office, which obstructed life-saving and planet-saving technologies from 1994-2015. I explained why such an effort could be legal, despite that Federal law usually preempts state and local laws in matters of patents. The local patent office idea was first proposed in Power UP – How to Create a Solution-Based World in 100 Days.

This raises a couple of questions:

“Why is a local patent office, independent of the USPTO, needed anyway?” and

“Why would a new law be needed to create a local patent office?”

Protecting extraordinary technologies should not require a new law. President Trump is the chief enforcer of U.S. law. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is part of the Department of Commerce within the Executive Office. That means President Trump has a legal duty to end the illegal suppression of extraordinary technologies and the persecution of their inventors. His supporters have been expecting him to do that anyway.

The President might even enjoy pointing out that the illegal suppression of anti-global warming devices and cleaner energy technologies started during the Clinton administration. It was under the watch of global-warming poster boy, Vice President Al Gore. When the 10 millionth patent was issued June 19, 2018, President Trump probably had no idea how many extraordinary technologies had been illegally obstructed by the patent office.

If the President ended the war on extraordinary clean energy innovations, that would fit the depiction of the President in the book, Donald J. Trump – An Environmental Hero, by Ed Russo. The illegal USPTO SAWS program continued through G. W. Bush and most of the Obama administration. However, until such enforcement happens at the federal level, the task falls on the People and they would have to enact a new law.

Why would Trump take on the task himself? In his June 29, 2017 speech at the “Unleashing American Energy Event”, President Trump said, “We’re here today to usher in a new American energy policy – one that unlocks million and millions of jobs and trillions of dollars in wealth”. He also said, “Powered by new innovation and technology, we are now on the cusp of a true energy revolution.”

His comments were true. He just needs to “unlock” every kind of innovation and every source of energy. That alone would do more for America and the world than the Green New Deal. There are far cleaner and more affordable energy technologies than wind and solar. They just need to be released. Allowing that, even in one city, is better than nowhere at all. However, President Trump could achieve that for the entire nation.

Burdensome government policies and programs were not required for Nikola Tesla to invent alternating current and provide electricity to the world. The same can be said for achievements of the Wright Brothers, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and Jeff Bezos. Both Republicans and Democrats are having a hissy fit over major funding cuts proposed by Trump for the DOE’s Office of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (EERE). The most important thing, though, is to get government and politicians out of the way of great innovators.

As the proposed Denver ballot initiative states, “It is urgent and necessary to protect extraordinary technology’ research, development, marketing, use, intellectual property rights, inventors and access to a fair and open market. This will affordably ensure human and environmental health, energy security and independence, job creation and economic strength, and significantly reduce deadly air pollution, and fires and floods related to climate change.”

Without patents, investors won’t take the risk, so breakthrough inventions fail to launch. The suppression of extraordinary clean energy technologies is a primary root cause of catastrophic air pollution and climate change.

Democrats started this illegal USPTO SAWS program. Now they are trying to profit politically and financially from the problems it caused throughout America and the world. They are fueling and firing up youth activist groups such as Zero Hour, Earth Guardians, the Sunrise Movement and others whose protests, climate lawsuits and “climate strike” are making headlines. Tragically, these youth groups are being misled by Democratic politicians who are exploiting the climate change issue more than trying to solve it.

There is no doubt that protecting extraordinary technologies will bring changes. However, nobody’s political position, job, paycheck, stock dividend, or executive bonus is more important that the lives of children. That is one of those absolute truths, around which everything else needs to be adjusted, organized or sacrificed as needed.

It’s time to protect not only the intellectual property for extraordinary technologies but their inventors, the inventions, and a fair and open market. President Trump could get it done with an Executive Order or even a “tweet”. At the same time, he could upstage self-serving Democrats and their charade, which is the subject of the next article.
