Government forces continue offensive in Hama countryside

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has reportedly captured a new town in the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate this afternoon following a fierce battle with Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham. Led by the Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army reportedly captured the town of Huwayz Tahtani after breaking through the militant lines near the Al-Hamra axis. The Syrian Army has captured Huwayz Tahtani, but they still need to capture Huwayz Fouqani and Huwayz Huraya in order to secure the area.

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) shot down an armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) while it was flying over its positions in the northern Hama countryside.

Oleg Blokhin, a Russian journalist, released a video showing the remains of the UAV on May 14. The remains show that the UAV is identical to the type used in many attacks on the Russian Hmeimim airbase during last year. Pro-government sources believe that this type of DIY armed UAVs was developed by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the former branch of al-Qaeda in Syria.The terrorist group has not confirmed or denied this, so far. The drone attack was likely aimed at hindering the SAA’s advance in northwestern Hama.The ongoing operation in the region has significantly limited the terrorist group’s capabilities to launch rocket and drone attacks on Russian and Syrian bases.

The Damascus Army foiled major attacks by Turkey-backed Tahrir al-Sham al-Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) on government forces’ military positions in Aleppo, a move assessed to be aimed at deflecting pressure of the army’s military operations in Hama province.

“Tahrir al-Sham terrorists launched tough attacks on the Syrian Army’s military positions in Khalseh, al-Hamireh, Zamar and Havir al-Eiss in Southwestern Aleppo and Kastelo road in Northern Aleppo after receiving orders from Turkey,” the Arabic-language al-Watan newspaper reported.

It noted that the Syrian Army troops thwarted the terrorists’ attacks after killing and injuring tens of militants.

Meantime, the Syrian army continued its military advances in other parts of Syria over past 24 hours.

Tens of terrorists were killed and dozens more were injured during the Syrian army’s operations in provinces across Syria.

Hama

The Arabic-language al-Watan newspaper reported that “Tahrir al-Sham terrorists launched tough attacks on the Syrian Army’s military positions in Khalseh, al-Hamireh, Zamar and Havir al-Eiss in Southwestern Aleppo and Kastelo road in Northern Aleppo after receiving orders from Turkey”.

The newspaper underlined that the coordinated attacks by terrorists have taken place with the aim of derailing Syrian Army’s military operations in Northern and Northwestern Hama as well as Southern Idlib and Northeastern Lattakia.

It noted that the Syrian Army troops thwarted the terrorists’ attacks after killing and injuring tens of militants.

Meantime, the Syrian Air Force targeted terrorists’ convoys in Aleppo-Hama Road while they were trying to reach battlefronts in Southern Idlib and Northern Hama from Afrin, destroying several military vehicles which were carrying weapons and military equipment.

The Arabic-language version of Russian Sputnik News Agency quoted a military source as saying that the Syrian Army troops and Russian fighter jets pounded the movements by Tahrir al-Sham and Turkistani Party in Haritan, Hayan to Bianon and al-Malah, West of Aleppo, and Khan Touman, al-Ais, al-Haser, Khalseh and Hamira South of the same province.

Meantime, Tahrir al-Sham al-Hay’at terrorist group destroyed a key bridge in Northwestern Hama to prevent the Syrian Army advances as the government forces make rapid advances in militants’ key stronghold in the region.

“A bridge linking Jisr Beit al-Ra’as and other areas under the Syrian Army’s control in Sahl al-Ghab in Northwestern Hama was exploded by Tahrir al-Sham terrorists,” battlefield sources in Northern Syria said Tuesday.

The sources pointed to the consecutive and heavy defeats of the terrorists against the Syrian Army in the last several days in Northern and Northwestern Hama, and said that the bridge has been destroyed to stop the Syrian Army advances.

Meantime, the Syrian Army arrived at the Southern and Southwestern administrative borders of Idlib with Hama in a bid to complete the military operation in Sahl al-Ghab region.

Meantime, Ringleader of Tahrir al-Sham al-Hay’at Abu Mohammed Al-Jolani asked for terrorist groups’ help to save his last remaining bases in Northern Hama as the Syrian Army continues rapid advances in the region.

The Syrian Army troopers backed by artillery and air force units engaged in heavy clashes with Tahrir al-Sham terrorists in Northwestern Hana, taking control of the villages of al-Tobeh, Sheikh Idriss, Jab Suleiman and Rasm al-Ahmar Farms, Wadi Tal Havash to West of Kafar Naboudeh town.

The Arabic-language Al-Watan newspaper, meantime, reported that as the Syrian Army continues advances in Northern Hama, Al-Jolani has called on all terrorists to go to contact lines with the Syrian Army in Northern Hama to defend Tahrir al-Sham’s remaining bases there.

Eastern Euphrates

The Arab tribal leaders voiced preparedness to confront the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces under the command of the Syrian Army as the SDF continues to implement the US plans in Eastern Euphrates.

“All tribes stationed in Eastern Euphrates region are fully aware of the SDF’s anti-Syria moves and plans by the SDF and the Syrian Democratic Council,” the Arabic-language Al-Watan newspaper quoted Secretary-General of Syria’s Popular Party Sheikh Navaf Tarad al-Molhem who is one of tribal leaders of al-Hasaneh tribe.

Sheikh al-Molhem pointed to continued contacts with all tribes of Eastern Euphrates, including Raqqa and Hasaka, in recent months, and said the Eastern Euphrates’ regions are ready to encounter the SDF’s movements in case they receive a relevant order from the Syrian Army’s general command.

Meantime, the Kurdish-language Bas News Website quoted a source close to commanders of the Kurdish Forces as disclosing that the SDF is getting close to Turkey through the US mediation.

The source said that the SDF has indirect contacts with Turkey, adding that Washington in pressuring the SDF to show flexibility for the establishment of a safe zone.
