Syrian army responded to a broad attack by Al-Nusra Front on the axid of Tal Malah – Kafr hood in the northern countryside of Hama

The jihadist rebels launched an assault on several towns in northwestern Hama on Tuesday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions near the Idlib Governorate’s border. Led by Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and Jaysh Al-Izza, the militants began their attack by storming the Syrian Army’s positions at Qasabiyah, Jamleh, and Kafr Houd in the Hama and Idlib countrysides.

These attacks in northwestern Syria would ultimately fail after the jihadist rebels suffered a large number of casualties. and heavy losses to their military equipment. According to a military source in northwestern Hama, the Syrian Army killed an estimated 25-35 militants, while the Tiger Forces’ media wing put the death toll as high as 65.

In addition to their heavy personnel losses, the jihadist rebels also had seven of their vehicles destroyed during the attack. A Syrian military source said at least two jihadist tanks, two BMPs, and three technical vehicles were destroyed during the battle on Tuesday.

The Syrian army discovered a large number of weapons and military equipment, including Israeli ammunition, in a former ISIL headquarters during cleansing operations in liberated areas in the Eastern Badiyeh (desert) of Deir Ezzur.

The army units found an ISIL base which had recently been equipped by the terrorists during purging operations in the Southern parts of the town of al-Qouriyeh in the Eastern Badiyeh of Deir Ezzur.

A Syrian military source said that the ISIL terrorists used the headquarters to coordinate their military operations against the Syrian army in Syria’s Badiyeh, adding that the army forces discovered a large number of weapons and military equipment, including Israeli bombs and ammunition, communication systems and RPGs.

The ISIL’s attacks, backed by the US, against the Syrian army in the Eastern Badiyeh of Syria have increased recently.

It is believed that about 2,000 terrorists are stationed in Eastern Badiyeh of Deir Ezzur.

The Arabic-language al-Mayadeen Television news network reported last week that the ISIL has recently increased its movements in Homs’ desert region.

The intensified ISIL attacks on the Syrian Army’s military positions in Eastern Homs have increased while the US-led coalition has prepared the grounds for the presence of hundreds of ISIL terrorists in the depth of Badiyeh region to exert pressure on the Syrian Army in the military operations against the ISIL in Baqouz region in Eastern Euphrates.

Al-Mayadeen, meantime, pointed to the massive spread of terrorists in the surrounding areas of Jabal al-Bashri in Southeastern Raqqa and al-Dafineh in Southern Deir Ezzur and between Palmyra desert and Al-Sukhneh and the surrounding areas of al-Tanf in Eastern Homs, and said that the ISIL’s movements have taken place in line with US’ objectives to exert pressure on the Syrian Army and its allies in Syria.

Syrian military expert Mohammad Abbas in an interview with al-Mayadeen pointed to the strategic importance of the area stretching from al-Tanf to Bu Kamal and al-Sukhneh, and said that by carrying out mop-up operation in that region, the Syrian army, in fact, will put an end to war in the region.

He pointed to the US logistic, political and military supports for the militants in the same region, and said that Washington is trying to make use of the notion of alternate army to cut the path used by the resistance front.
