Winter Military Surplus Must Haves!

I recently picked up a few military surplus “extreme winter” items that I believe are a MUST have! Beyond my biassed love for military surplus, this surplus gear is still very rugged and has real life applications. The first item I picked up were a pair of USGI magnesium snow shoes. I got them brand new, probably had been sitting in a warehouse somewhere… These things are rugged, metal constructed, long and wide, just the style I personally like in deep wet snow. I got them for a decent price of $40. Cant beat that!

The pairing item you just got to have with the snow shoes is a pair of ” Bunny Boots ” Extreme Cold Vapor Barrier boots. I have a lot of experience with these things when I lived in Alaska. They are a MUST have when temps average -20 during the day and -40 during the night, no other boots can compare to the warmth of these boots. These things are getting very hard to find, especially in common sizes. If you see a pair, GRAB THEM! These things go locally in Alaska for over a hundred bucks a pair! Using the USGI snow shoes and bunny boots in combo make for comfortable winter travel!
