"You must prophesy again..." Rev 10:11 (For an Impending Time of Judgment)

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

This article is  posted in response to “Most Christians Will Take the ‘Mark’”  That is so, because they are not aware of a better option brought to view by an understanding of Christ’s wedding parables in this brief three part series.

In 1844 there was a Great Disappointment when about 50,000 followers of William Miller, a Baptist preacher, told others that Christ was coming–that judgment would fall on those who didn’t prepare. (Wikipedia) Nevertheless, the Bible seems to endorse the movement as the “bitter belly” experience that John had in Revelation 10:10 after eating the little book that was sweet in his mouth.

The news of Christ’s return in 1844 seemed sweet, but their misunderstanding of Daniel (similarity of Daniel 12 to imagery in Revelation 10) resulted in a “bitter belly” and most Christians turn from any idea of knowing more than we do in spite of Revelation 10 ending with “You must prophesy again…”

The purpose of this article is to see how they got it wrong so we can get it right for our time.

First, they misunderstood the vision at the time of the end in Daniel 8:17. They thought it was the 2300 days/years pointing to 1844, but the most authoritative sources say the word for vision referred to the earlier ram and goat vision [chazon] in Daniel 8, explained in verse 20 as the Medes and Persians.

But Alexander’s victory over the Medes and Persians was not “the time of the end,” so this begs another application. The Medes and Persians are now Iraq and Iran and the US coalition fit the imagery of flying from the west (first historic air war) coming “from the face of the whole earth” (troops from US, S. America, Canada, Korea, Australia) to support “the-time-of-the-end” application for us.

Since that vision of the end points to now instead of 1844, we want to consider the message they gave to see again where they were wrong if we “must prophesy again.”

#1. The Millerites had a Bad News/Good News message. The bad news was based on Revelation 14:7, “the time of God’s judgment is come.” They expected Christ’s return to cast sinners into the lake of fire.

#2. The Good News was “the Bridegroom comes,” Matthew 25:6. They misunderstood that also. We look now to see how each of these may fit for our time since the correct view of “the time of the end” from Daniel 8 points to an impending war with Iran.

#1. “The time of God’s judgment” in Revelation 14:7 is not about a lake of fire as they thought in 1844. The Greek word for “judgment” is krisis (crisis) and who can deny that the world seems headed there? Pick any system: medicine, education, justice, government or religion to name a few: huge problems.

#2. “The Bridegroom comes” is not a visible coming in the sky as they thought in 1844. Bible scholars recognize the Rule of First Use, that where a word or phrase is first found, it often has a context or meaning that may fit end-times because Christ is “Alpha and Omega; the First and the Last” Rev 1:11.

“The Bridegroom comes” is the midnight cry in Matthew 25:6, and the first cry at midnight was in Exodus 12:29,30 when a calamity fell on Egyptians. God came as Bridegroom and took Israel to Sinai where they made a covenant and He later said, “I am married to you,” Jeremiah 3:14.

The point is, we are looking for a prophetic calamity in which the wise will seek a covenant relationship and are highly rewarded as suggested by an understanding of the wedding parables. This is the end of Part I of III. Email me for Part II, [email protected] Thank you for considering it.

I agree with this Part 1 and look forward to see Parts 2+3. No serious bible scholar can deny that calamity is YHWHs judgement of obstinate and willful denial of Him.

        Desert Owl,

An owl can sit on a fence and hear a mouse in a corn field and fly right to it in the dark.
I appreciate your interest in spiritual truth and hope you like Part 2, just posted, titled “How to Be Ruler Over All that He Has” /prophecy/2013/01/how-to-be-ruler-over-all-that-he-has-2444490.html

An owl also keeps watch over the corn field during the night, always awake, to catch the thief in the corn field. Thanks for the link.

Good grief man. How can you even begin to justify such a quantum leap?

“The point is, we are looking for a prophetic calamity in which the wise will seek a covenant relationship and are highly rewarded as suggested by an understanding of the wedding parables.”

The wedding parables and the prophetic descriptions of the wedding feast are indispensable to a sound understanding of the entire narrative of Redemption and Salvation. But the wedding parable should not be over-emphasized at the expense of the harvest parables and the preparation parables (such as the diligent servants who earned their master a return on his financial gift to them, as well as the virgins who trimmed their wicks and filled their lamps with oil). Are we looking for His return without doing what is expected of us in the meanwhile? Is the Temple cleansed? Is the Body of Messiah sanctified? Is the House in order for the return of the Goodman? Laws no – we are not ready. We have much to do and there is almost no talk at all about making ready. What we have in abundance is talk about pre-tribulation raptures and about ‘Jesus’ forgiving all of our sins, trespasses and indiscretions. Are we expecting our Master to clean up the House for us when He returns? I would submit to the brethren that to adopt such an attitude is to invite ourselves into trouble we do not want. What do the Scriptures have to say on the matter?

Here is another point which is given almost no consideration: Are we looking for Messiah according to a Christian (read Roman) calendar? Doesn’t the Almighty have His own Calendar? Of course He does. Whose Calendar should we expect He will be keeping His schedule by: Pope Gregory’s; or His Own? The Calendar of the Almighty is not easy to understand. One thing is for certain though: His Calendar does not change – nor does it expire while the Heavens and the Earth remain.

The brethren are presently being marked, but what the ‘Mark’ is remains to be seen. It will have to be determined at the time it is unveiled, but I doubt that when the time comes there will be much question at all what we are facing. We will have to accept it willingly. To decline will mean death – or at least a very uncomfortable existence. We are not presently in the time of the ‘Mark’ because we are not yet under the rule of the ‘Little Horn’ from the prophecy of Daniel. No revelation of the Man of Sin equals no ‘Mark’ just yet. We are right on schedule though. Brothers and sisters need to learn His Calendar, and we need to start looking diligently into the verses of Scripture to learn what is expected of us in the time we have left before His return.

I just read part two. Now that is some actual meat. No milk on that page. This is very encouraging to see and is in extremely short supply at the moment. I should sleep on what you have written before commenting. There is much said which deserves to be meditated on.

I thank a brother for his work.

        • Dr Richard Ruhling

          Dear Brother,

Thank you for your kind comment and I’m confident you will see that God did not forget us when He covenanted with Abraham to provide for his seed. “And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise…” Gal 3:29. Please stay with me till you have considered the seal information–topics that God has emphasized seven times as a mark of end-time truth, like Revelation is a book of sevens…
I have posted the first several seals, but don’t want to post little horn info too early as it could result in hacking or other problems. Let me know your response or concerns. I appreciate you as a true believer and seeker after Bible truth. [email protected]
