LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES, CALIFORNIA, USA – Aerial view of wildfires in Southern California. A new fire dubbed the Sierra Fire developed in southern California on Tuesday night (November 13), growing rapidly and threatening a residential neighborhood in Fontana.
The Sierra Fire is the latest fire to emerge on California’s southern wildfire front. On Monday (November 12), teams struggled to contain the Woolsey Fire which killed two people, destroyed more than 400 structures and displaced some 200,000 people in the mountains and foothills near the Malibu coast west of Los Angeles.
In northern California, teams uncovered the remains of six fire victims on Tuesday, raising the death toll for the so-called Camp Fire to 48 in the most lethal and destructive wildfire in California’s history. More than 100 National Guard troops were being sent into the northern town of Paradise to assist with the search for additional human remains.
From comments.. apparently some believe this is a common practice to deal with the fire. Probably true but perhaps someone disagrees in our comments.
I do agree with other posters that ‘back firing’ is a Forest Service tactic for creating a fire line, however, in this case there is a unspoken war between California and POTUS over Sanctuary Cities. California has been denied access to federal funds because of them and that has caused huge headaches for the State. So, what is the “fastest way” to get federal funds; have a disaster. Controlled burning to make dead zones for preventing wildfire spreading usually deploys dozens of firemen to control the burn and it must be done before any forest fire starts. But when the fire goes wild it’s too late to add more fires. Controlled burning also protects houses at the edge of thick bush and forest but before lighting controlled fires the houses and neighboring bush must first be drenched with water. The video’s don’t show any houses.
You are probably right, that means you got crimes against humanity caught on video.
These are NOT controlled burns – they are called “back fires” which are small low burning fires set to consume the duff on the forest floor and to prevent the large CROWN fires from spreading. Google it. i am a forester with decades of experience in these matters, and you are NOT.

If some malicious agency wanted to cause a forest fire they would not waste time and effort adding fire to an area which has already got out of control. They would start a new fire somewhere else.
