Five Fresh Insights For Our Time from the Bible

Contrary to what some think, that the Bible is for weak men, women and children, there are good reasons why it is still the #1 all-time best-seller. For starters, consider these five reasons with relevance to our time.  

1. The book of Genesis repeats. God says, “Who is like Me, declaring the end from the beginning.” Isa 46:10. The book of beginnings is a chiastic (mirror image) of Revelation as both books have a Paradise, global destruction, a call out of Babylon, and God’s people in captivity at the end of Genesis and the beginning of Revelation when John was in exile.

2. The book of Exodus repeats. Paul reminds us of the Exodus, “how our fathers all passed through the sea… All those things happened unto them for examples and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.” 1Cor 10:1,11.

God took Israel from calamity in Egypt to a covenant relationship at Sinai and later said, “I am married to you,” Jer 3:14. Christians read Christ’s in wedding parable, “the Bridegroom comes,” (Matt 25:6), but we somehow think it’s about pie in the sky when we see Him (wedding supper in heaven) and we don’t make a parallel connection to how Israel married God.

We will not be ready to meet Christ in the sky without the New Covenant Promise to write His law in our hearts (or we would start trouble all over again in heaven). But the New Covenant Promise has an overlooked context: “I will gather you out of all countries and bring you into your own land. Then I will [give you the new heart, right spirit] and you will dwell in the land that I gave your fathers.” Ezek 36:24-28.

3. The book of Daniel repeats. Gabriel said, “The vision [of the chazon--the ram and goat] is at the time of the end,” Dan 8:17. We think it was about Alexander the Great’s victory over the Medes and Persians, but that wasn’t “the time of the end.”

We forget that the book of Daniel was “sealed until the time of the end,” which means that the unsealed meaning is a double application–once in history, and at the time of the end when Medes and Persians are Iraq and Iran. And because the 70 weeks of Daniel 9 are cut off [cawthak is the Hebrew word] of the previous time period of 2300 days, we may expect to see Jerusalem destroyed with a decree to build it again as suggested by Dan 9:24,25 and Zech 14:1,2.

4. Most of the Hebrew prophecies have an end-time application. Peter said, “Not unto themselves did they minister, but unto us,” 1 Pet 1:12. We should open our eyes to consider how this is so. As an example,, we hear Handel’s Messiah at Christmas that says, “The Lord whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to His temple… but who may abide the day of His coming… for He is like a refiner’s fire, and He shall purify the sons of Levi” Mal 3:1-3. This hasn’t happened yet–so it’s a head’s up for us!

5. Matthew 24 and 25 both have Christ’s second coming in the middle of the chapter. Everythng in between is probably parenthetical about sudden events at the beginning of the last seven years when suddenly a fig tree withers. Suddenly world-wide destruction “as in the days of Noah,” and, reading between the lines, martial law when two are in bed, one taken, the other left. Remember, we were supposed to flee when we saw military “standing where it ought not,” Mark 13:14.

If you think this couldn”t happen in America, you are sedated by an opiate of mainstream media. The Bible says, “If you see a sword come on the land and blow not the trumpet others may die, but their blood I will require at your hand,” Ezek 33:6. It’s time to wake-up as these links to solemn events show.
