Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan experienced an embarrassing welcome in United States in his official visit. There was no official welcome for him on Saturday.

The welcome was made by his foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and good number of Pakistani Americans at the airport. Apart from these, just a protocol officer from the US government was present.

The 66-year-old is scheduled to have a talk with President Donald Trump and the effort would be to reboot bilateral ties.

The cricketer-turned-politician will be meeting Trump on Monday at the White House and American leadership may take decisive actions against terrorist and terror outfits being operated from Pakistan soil.

Imran Khan traveled on a commercial Qatar Airways flight to Washington. He is staying at the official resident of the Pakistani Ambassador to the US in his three-day visit.

He will meet IMF acting chief David Lipton and World Bank President David Malpass too.

The last Pakistan Prime Minister to have visited US was Nawaz Sharif in October 2015.

During Trump’s tenure relationship between the two nations has deteriorated.

Meanwhile, several ethnic and religious minorities of Pakistan including Mohajirs, Sindhis and Baloch have protested the visit of Imran Khan to Washington. Over the next few days protesters could be seen in front of the White House and Capitol Hill Arena.
