Giants Head Coach Pat Shurmur Says Eli Manning Starting Monday Night Against 49ers

The Giants might just be the worst team in the NFL (the Raiders have to be in that mix), but that isn’t causing a shift at the QB spot, as Eli Manning will remain the teams’ starter Monday Night for their next game against the San Francisco 49’ers.

Giants head coach Pat Shurmur told reporters Tuesday that the 15-year-vet will be under center Monday night, but that he also told Manning that he’s got to play better moving forward. .

After the Giants’ 34-13 loss against the Eagles in Week 6—when Manning managed 283 yards on 43 attempts—Shurmur told reporters that “we’re not talking about a quarterback change yet.”

This season Manning has thrown for 2377 yards, with eight touchdowns and six picks. His best game came in the teams’ only win over the Texans in week three 27-22, in which he threw for 297 yards with two scores and no interceptions.
