Eagles RB Darren Sproles Set to Return to Action for the Team Monday Night

Eagles running back Darren Sproles is expected to finally return to the field for the team’s key NFC East divisional matchup against the Redskins according to Tim McManus of ESPN.

When asked if he’ll play Monday, Sproles casually responded,”That’s the plan.” He also mentioned “we’re going to see” what his eventual role will be.

The 35-year-old has been out since Week 1 with a serious hamstring injury. It should be noted, however, that Sproles received all running back targets and 50% of Philly’s red zone rushes in his only available three quarters this season.

Much has changed since Week 1 with undrafted free agent Josh Adams gradually taking over as the No.1 running back the past few weeks. We would still expect Adams to see the bulk of the carries against the Redskins and both Corey Clement and Wendell Smallwood are available.

The Eagles’ 2018 season is on the line, however, and we expect head coach Doug Pederson to pull out all the stops on MNF-likely including some specific plays designed for the shifty Sproles.
