Thoughts:
- Fantasy owners may be a little bit jaded at the fact that Julio Jones got them three points last week in a crucial matchup, but put that out of your mind because he is about to go off on Green Bay. Jones has arguably been the most consistent wide receiver in the league with six straight 100 yard games before the stinker last week. In your season long leagues you obviously aren’t benching him but just a note for the daily fantasy players reading this, go all in this week as the sour grapes crowd may be off him after last week.
- The reason for Julio Jones down game last week was the Baltimore Ravens stout defense, a defense that has really become the elite in the league. This week they get the Chiefs and that’s why I have Tyreek Hill lower than I’ve had him in a long time. Now clearly you are still going to start him, it’s the playoffs and he’s an elite wide receiver, but you may be holding your breath a bit.
- With A.J. Green lost for the season I anticipate a lot of Top 20 weeks from Tyler Boyd, who is a borderline must start in fantasy at this point. Boyd turned in yet another solid performance last week grabbing six passes for 97 yards. The Bengals seem to be deteriorating before our eyes after what looked like a promising start to the season. From a fantasy standpoint that isn’t terrible and Boyd may be racking up the stats as the Bengals play a lot of games from behind down the stretch.
- Yesterday was a pretty massive blow to Emmanuel Sanders fantasy owners, but for those who own Courtland Sutton or who had him available in their league it’s a good day. Sutton is coming off his best week of the season hauling in four catches for 85 yards and a TD. The Broncos are geared for what should be a nice fantasy playoff run with matchups against the 49ers, Browns and Raiders the next three weeks. I think we’re going to get a preview of big things to come from Sutton.
- I’m not sure how many Dante Pettis believers there are out there, but I am one to at least some degree. I believe that Kyle Shanahan knows what he’s doing with an offense and despite the lack of talent he gets production. I also believe that they play in a lot of high scoring games, which means a lot of throwing the football. Pettis has emerged as the lead receiver the last two weeks and I don’t think he is going anywhere as the rookie showcase on a bad team.
- There isn’t a whole lot of eagerness on my part to play any Miami Dolphins receivers against the New England Patriots this week, but if I’m in a spot where I need one Kenny Stills is my guy. Stills was productive early on in the season when Ryan Tannehill was healthy and the offense was somewhat efficient. Tannehill is back under center now and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Stills finally had a fantasy relevant game last week after a lot of weeks of nothing. Again, I’m not overjoyed if I have to use Stills, but there are worse options.
