A Cake, A Transwoman, & A Movie

My 49th run around the sun was acknowledged quietly this year. I’ve learned to just ASK for what I want, and no longer hope people know ahead of time. I got a store sheet cake and some Magnum cherry & chocolate ice cream bars for the celebration. Cat had work, so she had cake with the rest of us and then went to bed.

Meanwhile, I got to spend more time with Luna, who is a transitioning man-to-woman special friend of Tess’s. We hung out to have a cocktail with cake and ice cream and watched Crimson Peak, which is a well done gothic romance type of movie I enjoy immensely, but had only seen once.

No issues! We enjoyed a nice time together and then Tess gave me a shoulder massage because I was super tight there– she’s actually really good at it!– and then we all went to bed.

The only thing I didn’t like was getting a card from my mother. It said in a shaky hand, “I will always be your mother” next to the printed b-day wish, and was signed “Mother” instead of Mama like she usually does. In addition, there was no gift card (not that I need one) AND her signature came with a weird, shaky line under it that went dowwn–> in a long line very dramatically.

She’s always been totally passive-aggressive with those kinds of things. If you confront her about this type of thing, she’ll act like you’re crazy for even suggesting what she’s obviously suggesting! Talk about setting up your kid to be gaslighted by significant others!

Gods I really don’t like the woman. I don’t love her either– and getting away from the woman who gave birth to me is what has saved my sanity. She’s “softly evil” in my opinion. She doesn’t try to hurt most people, but she’s very selfish and deviously manipulative.

Glad to set that card aside and bask in my roomie’s love and just get on with my life!
