The Daily Mirror newspaper announced that Dutch anti-terrorist forces were called after a dude apparently shot several folks in a tram. The attack happened in the Dutch city of Utrecht city.
The attack took place in the locality of a central tram stop on the square of October 24th.

According to a report by WDR , the Federal Police carry out checks on the German-Dutch border, on roads and in trains. They also get reinforcement from the state police NRW. Focus is the A3 motorway.

Close all mosques in Utrecht

In the Dutch city of Utrecht, all mosques have closed as a precautionary measure after the shots in a tram. “We have done this in coordination with the police,” the German press agency quoted a spokesman for the largest mosque in the city.

The political parties interrupted, according to reports of Dutch media their campaign for the upcoming elections on Wednesday for the provincial parliaments. Utrecht Mayor Jan van Zanen spoke of a “vile and serious incident”. Utrecht is the fourth largest city in the Netherlands with about 350,000 inhabitants.

A police spokeswoman has stated that at least one fatality is now to be expected. This is consistent with a report by Dutch radio.

The dpa reported, citing the Dutch radio, that a person was killed in the attack. Maybe a culprit is said to have fled a car. The police in Utrecht tweet meanwhile, that a terrorist motive is part of the ongoing investigations.

It is still unclear whether the alleged perpetrator acted alone or had accomplices. The Dutch news portal NU.nl described an eyewitness that someone suddenly “shot wildly”. On the other hand, the AD.nl page reported that four shooters opened to a woman near the tram stop, citing another eyewitness.

The Dutch government has come together for a crisis meeting following the incident.

Several helicopters were used to bring the injured to hospitals. In the entire Statdgebiet the operation of the tram was discontinued.

The Dutch governing parties have interrupted a meeting of the coalition committee due to the alleged attack. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has yet to announce whether the incident is being classified as a terrorist attack. However, he expressed concern about the case.
