Severe Weather Outbreak 4/18/2015

NationalWeatherForce.com has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for West Central to East Central NE … Northwest/West Central/North/Central/South KS … most of Oklahoma, excluding the Panhandle and Eastern …  effective now through some of tonight …

A strong storm system rotating across the Western Plains will bring strong upper divergence across a wide area today … This, with clearing skies in the watch area is bringing up instability factors.  Instability will be more than enough to bring severe thunderstorms across a wide area, in which looks like a severe weather outbreak over the plains.  Our tornado model isn’t so keen on anything stronger than touch and go and/or EF0 type situations so we’ll leave this as a severe thunderstorm watch.

The exception of our red boxed area in Southern Kansas which clearly shows the zone for EF0 type tornado activity being possible …

Large hail and damaging winds are the primary factor here …

Tornadoes can and often form with any severe thunderstorms …

The dryline will be just west of Abilene and San Angelo through this evening, which should allow for severe thunderstorm development zipping down along it… storms will move eastward with time across the watch area, affecting most within it.  Large hail and damaging winds will be the most likely scenario …

Tornadoes can and do form with any severe thunderstorms …
