A very fast developing surface low will continue to move northward toward the Northern half of the coast of SC and the Southern NC Coasts through the next day … hanging around and stalling offshore for at least a couple days after that … As this does so, squalls coming in from the east around the surface low’s north side will contribute to winds over 35-40+ mph … and this may reach Tropical Storm Force.

An upper level system to the west of the area will bring in an impulse today. Already severe thunderstorms are forming south of the watch box back into Southwestern Oklahoma, however these will continue north-northeastward into the watch area, sparking numerous supercells through the afternoon/evening hours.
As the low level jet becomes more established, tornado potential will rise … and we’re pegging numerous reports of tornadoes being possible today in or around the watch area …
In addition to this, looking at the potential for large hail/damaging winds as well …

Clear along the dryline right now and the instability is bringing up agitated cumulus clouds across the watch box. Backing winds in at the surface signal good low level shear in the area and with this through the afternoon/evening hours we will see supercells capable of tornadoes … a number of cells.
In addition to this, large hail/damaging winds will accompany the watch zone …
