Erica the Cookie Lady + Alopecia Awareness in the Black Community

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

From time to time I like to take a moment and share the stories of other real women entrepreneurs and the things in their lives that motivate them to do what they do. Here is a letter I received from one of the sistas in my circle, Erica the “Cookie Lady”.

In 2004 my daughter was diagnosed with alopecia totalis hair loss, which usually starts as a single quarter-sized circle of perfectly smooth baldness. Alopecia patches usually regrow in three to six months without treatment. Sometimes, hair grows back in white. In another variant, alopecia can produce two or three bald patches. When these grow back, they may be replaced by others. The most extensive form is called alopecia totalis, in which the entire scalp goes bald.

J’s Homemade Cookies was started to bring awareness to Alopecia areata. With the encouragement of family who had long been the beneficiaries of these delicious home baked cookies. J’s Homemade Cookies opened for business in 2007 as a bakery specializing in baking fresh cookies daily. Soon our popularity and menu grew. At J’s Homemade Cookies will take proud in our creations and welcome every opportunity to serve you and your gifting needs.

Would you like to connect with Erica? You can find her on Facebook.
