"You Church Folks"

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Do you want the truth? Or something beautiful?

If you grew up in the church like me, nothing church folks
do can really surprise you. Church folks can have a bad representation. We are
supposed to be “perfect.” We are expected to say yes to everything that is
asked of us. We are expected to be happy all the time. We are expected not to
have a bad day. We cannot raise our voice to anyone. We cannot have a bad day
that we feel like being alone. We cannot disagree with anyone. We cannot hurt
someone we care about because we have other issues. We cannot be seen as not
“perfect,” or we are subject to ridicule. We are called “hypocrites.” We are
frown upon by other “Christians.” If, for any reason, we do anything that is
not seen as “holy” the entire church wants to throw holy water on you. If you
have a disagreement with anyone, you are not supposed to be upset because we
are in the church. The question is often asked by those who attend and may not
attend on a regular base, what is wrong with church folks.

The Truth is… NOTHING is wrong with church folks! The church is
made up of humans who are trying to get it right. Churches get it wrong
sometimes because churches are run by humans. It will be disagreements, voice
raised, and opinions shared, but that does not mean anything is wrong with
anyone. The best thing you can do is pray for the leaders in your church. The
second best thing you can do is pray for your church members to get it right.
The third best thing for you to do is if someone hurts you in the church not to
put the entire congregation, and everyone that attends church in the same
category, but speak to the person, express how they hurt you, and asked God to
help heal you. We all fall short sometimes regardless if we attend church every
weekend or on those “Christian holidays” (Christmas, New Years, Easter, and
Mother’s Day) the important part is to learn from our weak areas and ask God to
help change us. Remember the church is made up of imperfect people trying to
get it right.

Can you handle the truth?
