New data released by a national organization centered on peace and equality reveals the cold, hard facts about hundreds of U.S. organizations that are hell-bent on racially-motivated death and destruction.

On a regular basis, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) monitors the activities of hate groups in America and reports those activities to law enforcement. In the interest of public awareness and safety, the SPLC publishes sobering data on its official website. On this site, there is a resource called the Hate Map, which tracks the growing number of white supremacist groups in the U.S.

“The SPLC is the premier U.S. organization monitoring the activities of domestic hate groups and other extremists – including the Ku Klux Klan, white nationalists, the neo-Nazi movement, antigovernment militias, and others. We track more than 1,600 extremist groups operating across the country,” reads a message from an SPLC webpage titled “Hate and Extremism.”

“Our work fighting hate and extremism began in the early 1980s, amid a resurgence of Klan violence that began several years after the end of the civil rights movement. Each year since 1990, we have released an annual census of U.S. hate groups. In the mid-1990s, we also began documenting the number of radical, antigovernment militias and other organizations that comprise the far-right “Patriot” movement,” the message also reads.

Another digital resource on the SPLC’s website is a recently added blog called Hate Watch. One of the latest updates here was a report, which exposed the sinister white nationalist activities of a man named Matthew Gebert. Prior to being exposed by the SPLC, Gebert was a U.S. government employee who previously worked for the Trump Administration as a ranking official within the U.S. State Department.

However, being revealed as a U.S. government-employed hate group agent has not stopped Gebert from engaging in troubling activities, which support dangerously armed and violent white supremacist groups. According to the SPLC’s Hate Map, there are branches of these groups operating in every last state of the U.S. Florida, in particular, is loaded with armed, far-right extremist groups that have inspired mass murder in other states.

It is very important for law enforcement officials to be aware of the violent activities being planned by all the armed extremist groups that fall under the white nationalist umbrella. Over the years, dozens of law enforcement officers have also lost their lives in murderous attacks, which have been organized by these groups. The threat posed by armed white nationalists is real and must be taken seriously.
