Innocent in Angola

At this very moment I sit in a cage where I’m being held captive in Angola at the Louisiana State Penitentiary on death row for a crime I did not commit. I was kidnapped by the crooked police officers of the New Orleans Police Department when I was only 18 years old and brought here due to extraordinary injustices by a corrupt judicial system. I have been incarcerated now for nearly 26 years. 

I have always maintained my innocence, but the system has many ways of silencing the truth. There is absolutely no physical evidence against me but, hey, they don’t just take my word for it – I have actual facts to prove it. There was a hair recovered and held for comparison that I know if tested would exonerate me, but the district attorney’s office has no plan to do the right thing.

Let’s be clear from the start: I am not at all seeking anyone’s pity, but I am seeking help to regain my freedom, which I most definitely deserve.

What has happened to me has happened to countless others.

I realize that there’s no unique or fancy words I can use to make you want to help me, but the truth is I could have easily been your brother, your father, your son or even you. I sold drugs back in the day, but I have never robbed or killed anyone. I have nothing to hide, but the state of Louisiana does.

I am asking you to investigate thoroughly and dig deep, ask the hard questions and pull records. I kept saying to myself what do I say to an audience that I am not at all familiar with and most of which could care less about me or my circumstances? My question is, why doesn’t justice exist for me? What has happened to me has happened to countless others and by no means can it be justified.

I have learned over the years that everyone has an opinion and that’s fine, but if I was your relative or friend, wouldn’t you want to know the truth? I thank you in advance for listening to me and I appreciate any and all assistance rendered until the cause of my overdue freedom is won.
