NASA: YU55 asteroid 'potentially hazardous'

For all those ‘Armageddon’ fans out there, there is a monster asteroid heading our way. It’s deemed as potentially hazardous by NASA. The monster is named as “YU55″ and NASA states that the asteroid will pass by and that it wont be a problem for at least a 100 years for now.

If you want to play apocalyptic stuff, now’s the time. If this 55 million tonne monster asteroid hits us, it will carry with it, the force of 65,000 atomic bombs. The crater will measure six miles across and some 2,000 feet deep.

The rest is cliché. The debris thrown up would pollute the planet, cover up the atmosphere and eventually block out the sun too. Total nightmarish hell. And it will be a threat to all living and non living things in the our planet. Do not be scared. 2012 won’t happen.

I told that to make it a little interesting. The monster asteroid YU55 will pass within assisted viewing distance thanks to the width of 1,300 feet. I have got to see that. It’s should be quite the spectacle for all those enthusiasts, including me.

I have always been a great enthusiast of these wonderful things. We often forget to watch the sky. I like to stare at those start and meteor showers.

NASA also said that there will be no noticeable gravitational effect on the Earth. It will be so small that we cannot even measure it properly.

Although scientists at NASA believe YU55 to be ‘potentially dangerous,’ there is no need to crawl under a table. This not going to strike us. Not in the near future anyway.

NASA implied that it wont be a problem for the next 100 years in the least. It will be viewable in the night sky between November 8 and 9, this year. That is, of the weather permits it. YU55  will return to Earth in 2015 after completing its 14 month regular orbit of the sun.

The YU55 was discovered in 2005 by Robert McMillan, head of the NASA funded Spacewidth Program at the Diversity of Arizona. It is the most biggest chuck of galactic detritus to pass us by. NASA says that it wont be a problem, even after 100 years.

After these crazy Hollywood films started feeding waste science fiction into our minds, do not be surprised enough to see a lot of websites that pray for redemption. It’s just a scam.

One thing I must say is that; do not fall into the category of those guys who are so paranoid and crazy enough to call this the Armageddon or something like that.

There will be no apocalypse for a long, long, long time. Believe it! Help stop these paranoid delusions.
