ART OF BLACKMAILING…..

First let’s review the defination “BLACKMAIL” is described as “to force or coerce into a particular action, statement”.

In past we have seen many regular Blackmailing events e.g May 1, 1961: First U.S. Airline flight hijacked to Cuba,  December 20, 1978: Two Hindus, Devendra Nath Pandey and Bhola Nath Pandey hijacked Indian Airlines flight IC-410, etc.etc, the complete list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aircraft_hijackings

Now it does not confine ‘blackmailing’ to limited space of gaining money which is mostly the motive of BLACKMAILING, however it can be used in political arena to gain votes or in financial turmoil  to gain Quantitative Easing QE 1,2,…..so on.!

US has already witnessed how BANKS in a sense ‘blackmailed’ US economy forcing US to BAIL them out or else face dire consequences. Well with above we knew and recognize the issue and people call it a sort of mutually agreed ‘blackmailing’!

In Indian context we find that BLACKMAIL was widely used by Political Parties to force onto something, the most classic example being, December 20, 1978: Two Hindus, Devendra Nath Pandey and Bhola Nath Pandey hijacked Indian Airlines flight IC-410. They demanded the immediate release of Indian National Congress party leader Indira Gandhi who was imprisoned at that time on the charges of fraud and misconduct. Later, they were awarded with party tickets for this act by the Indira Gandhi government in 1980 such that Devendra Nath Pandey rose to become a minister in the government of most populous state of India, Uttar Pradesh. This case was also mentioned by Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale to justify his claim regarding the hypocrisy of the Indian government.

While above case is confirmed case of BLACKMAIL however, what we are witnessing now is that BLACKMAIL fashion is back in business but this time in a twisted attire. I’m bringing out perspective that many may have not seen earlier, sometimes we can’t see all the sides to complex object, therefore I’m providing here another angle on ‘Art of Blackmailing’ that many have subscribed to unknowingly and ignoring the consequences.

We must not forget while humans are evolving, so is the “ART of BLACKMAILING”!

Going by the definition we know “to force or coerce into a particular action, statement”,

What shall we call when under the propaganda of “PEACE” and non-violence a person threatens to “SUICIDE” or forces administration/government to agree by his term unconditionally? Does internal Violence not count as VIOLENCE “SUICIDE – fast-unto-death?”

Well Gandhi used this technique 5 times during British Rule on India with FAST-UNTO-DEATH!

Mohandas Gandhi was imprisoned in 1922, 1930, 1933 and 1942. Because of Gandhi’s stature around the world, British authorities were loath to allow him to die in their custody. It is likely Britain’s reputation would have suffered as a result of such an event. Gandhi engaged in several famous hunger strikes to protest British rule of India. Fasting was a non-violent way of communicating the message and sometimes dramatically achieve the reason for the protest. This was keeping with the rules of Satyagraha.

It is no surprise that during Gandhi Fasting Ruling Britishers were facing challenges/pressure from many fronts, 1. Germany WWII, 2. India’s Arm’s Struggle for freedom & 3. Gandhi fast-unto-death popularity. Therefore, only option for UK/British at that time was to let go of “colonialism”  and to ensure seeds to democracy is sown right before their eyes avoiding ‘communist india’ possibility therefore they quickly PROMOTED GANDHI and ascribed to his ‘FAST-UNTO-DEATH’ protest. 

While UK/British quickly utilized INDIAN ARMED soldiers for their World War II in EUROPE.

Therefore, call it hypocracy or tactics or being politically correct,  Gandhi was crowned the leader of Freedom struggle by ruling Britishers with  ‘Art of Blackmailing’ thru ‘FAST-UNTO-DEATH’. While Africa was dipped under ‘RACISM’ during 1940′s and hate for BLACK COMMUNITY, Gandhi had already commented openly that he was also not in favor of Black Community of Africa.

Therefore, we need to take an open viewpoint and think outside the BOX, is this new art of BLACKMAING ‘FAST-UNTO-DEATH’ really peaceful as its claimed/projected? I’m more concerned of this since we are seen heading towards promoting ‘blackmailing’ as de-facto standard under peaceful/non-violence banner to achieve motives far beyond the case of being FAIR! I’m totally in favour of PEACEFUL and NON-VIOLENCE but do not suscribe to FAST-UNTO-DEATH SUICIDE – blackmailing form of propaganda!

Look at the latest fiasco of new gandhi avatar ‘Anna Hazare’ – I’ve been writing since long regarding the mockery of people’s movement under ‘FAST-UNTO-DEATH’ blackmailing!

Since, not only FAST-UNTO-DEATH is BLACKMAILING but also internal violence since one is purposely and intentionally public ally threatening to KILL ONE-SELF! – Keep fooling……..the people!

I’m surprised to find that many people out of ignorance support this FAST-UNTO-DEATH public self-killing event!

Per reports ‘Anna Hazare’ protest is not widely supported only about 15-20% support from people, further he is protesting single-track on corruption leaving INJUSTICE open, therefore forcing government to accept his form of BILL or else he shall FAST-UNTO-DEATH. The bill he is forcing government to PASS is not allowed for PUBLIC OPENION nor is it circulated for everyone to review or amend  it!

“BLACKMAIL” is described as “to force or coerce into a particular action, statement”. If we are to accept this form of protest FAST-UNTO-DEATH then what kind of society are we building up ? If one person FASTS-UNTO-DEATH then laws/constituion does not matter ? What if our KIDS pick up this technique and protest in return of “intoxicants”, would you promote this culture ?

So if this is not “Art of BLACKMAILING “,     then what?
