Rocky, Rambo Star Stallone Rails Against Banks, Corruption, Foreign Enemies Destroying Our Country

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Sylvester Stallone, start of the hit series Rocky and Rambo, unleashed a tirade of fury on twitter blasting corrupt US politicians and Wall Street Bankers.

Most of us know Sylvester Stallone as a Hollywood emblem of American Patriotism unmatched by that of any other big screen actor.

Rocky, Rambo Star, Sylvester Stallone railed against criminal politicians, bankers, and ‘foreign enemies’ destroying our country

When trying to explain how the CIA created Al Qaeda to people who aren’t in the know about all the crazy things our government does I ask the person I am conversing with if they remember Rambo III and how Rambo trained the Afghani’s to fight the Russians.

Nearly every time I get an excited response about how awesome that move was, especially the parts with the bow and arrow explosives and the people on riding their horses and taking out the Russian tanks with Molotov cocktails.

I then go on to explain how while the movie was a dramatization that exact situation happened in real-life, except in the real-life version there where many, many CIA and other special forces operatives involved and unlike in the movie they weren’t abandoned by the US government – instead they were supplied boat loads of weapons, trainings, money you name it.

Then their jaws drop as I tell them the kicker – In the real life version of events those men Rambo were training and leading into battle were Al Qaeda and the Taliban and their leader, well that was Osama Bin Laden.

Normally that will wake people up and the discussion will turn political wondering how the terrorists we trained to fight the Russians ended up fighting us, but that is a subject of this article.

Off the silver screen our Rambo Star is just as nearly as patriotic as he is on the screen, at least when it comes to words.

Here’s more on Stallone:

On Saturday July 21, Sylvester Stallone and family
laid to rest his son Sage
, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Brentwood, CA. Sage was 36 years old when he died on July 13th. He was reportedly found by his housekeeper.
I express my sincere condolences to Sylvester Stallone and his family over the tragic loss of their son. May his soul rest in peace.

Stallone’s official website, sylvesterstallone.com posted a message on July 14th along with a photo of his late son:

Sage Stallone (1976-2012)

It is with the greatest sadness that we report the passing of Sage Stallone. Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken over the sudden loss of his son. His compassion and thoughts are with Sage’s mother, Sasha. Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man. His loss will be felt forever. We would like to thank the visitors to this site for their many messages and emails. Please continue to leave messages of sympathy in the comments section of this post. Thank you for respecting the privacy of the Stallone family at this time.”

Stallone is one actor I’ve always liked. I became a fan in 1979 with the release of Rocky II, which was my all time favorite-ever movie when I was a kid. It struck a cord with me and millions of others. Not only was it a blockbuster feel-good film about an Italian Catholic, (which I related to being a half-Italian Catholic kid) but it conveyed a poignant theme of hope and redemption- a marvelous story of the likeable struggling underdog.
When I saw the movie, I liked it so much that I bought all the memorabilia associated with the film: The Rocky II soundtrack on vinyl, the t-shirt, the book, & the poster.

As a matter of fact, I still have the soundtrack on CD and ironically got it out a few weeks ago to listen in the car.

It’s a wonderfully inspiring collection of music by Bill Conti.

Stallone himself even made reference to the insipring nature of the music in a twitter post on October 20, 2010, noting “Still healing getting stronger. Maybe I better keep listening to “Gonna Fly Now” in my head.”

The following track, OVERTURE, is one of my favorites from the Rocky II soundtrack:

As the years went on after Rocky II, I went and saw every subsequent Rocky film as it came out in theatres with my dad. It became sort of a family tradition; my favorites were Rocky II, III and IV. Not only was Rocky a great boxing movie, but his fighting spirit was representative of the relentless determination of the American resolve. The making of the film alone illustrated how sticking to ones convictions without compromise can pay off. One of the very first webpages I created on the internet in 1997 was a Rocky Balboa tribute page, which included the following information:

Rocky (1976)

  • Sylvester Stallone wrote the script in three days after he saw a boxing match between the unknown Chuck Wepner and Muhammad Ali in which Wepner went the distance.
  • Sylvester Stallone sold the rights to make this film with the condition that he be cast in the title role. Producers offered him $150,000 to let Ryan O’Neal play the part.
  • The studio agreed to cast Stallone as Rocky as long as the cost of the picture remained under one million dollars. The producers even mortgaged their homes. The overall production cost was 1.1 million dollars.
  • The film was shot in 28 days.
  • Sylvester Stallone insisted that the scene where he admits his fears and doubts to Adrian the night before the fight be filmed, even though production was running far behind and producers wanted to skip it. He had one take for that scene.
  • Ending scene: Rocky and Adrian push their way through the crowded boxing arena to reach each other, and then embrace.
