This is getting a little creepy.
According to one estimate, since last year the Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm.
DHS also purchased 2,700 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP).

The Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) recently retrofitted 2,717 of these ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.

As far as their stockpiling ammo, they are mostly going for pistol ammo. In a war, a pistol is a weapon of last resort; it is short range and underpowered compared to a rifle or shotgun with slugs.
I normally enjoy reading through the comments listening to the sheep cackling each other with the catch phrases of the talking head media, but in this case it is not enjoyable due to the clear fact that we are paying for our own enslavement. DHS is a domestic military force, as if the local police, county sheriffs, state police, FBI, US Marshall’s, and any other one I forgot were not enough. 1.6 billion rounds, some may argue our government has a tendency to buy in bulk…lol…But this is real, Mine Resistant, as in the MR in MRAP, I can remember the last time I read about someone stepping on a mine or being killed by an IED domestically. If the sh1t ever really did hit the fan with a foreign nation, isnt that what the real military is for, and their armor. People need to wake their drugged minds and look at what is happening right in front of them…
