Monsanto's 2013 search for "Farm Mom of the Year"

With a cash prize of $5,000 who wouldn’t be tempted to enter. Many of us moms could use the cash. Most of us would not consider it extra cash either.

Last year 900 women entered the contest. There was 5 regional winners, and one Grand Supreme. Monsanto says this is to show appreciation to all the hard working and humble farm moms out there. To help educate the public about agriculture.

Now if it was purely for advocacy and education purpose about big ag (and pharming) they would call this bio-tech mom of the year. Or agent mom. Or how about mother that not only feeds her children bio weapons, but grows them and helps populate the Earth with super insects award?

Monsanto does try to show themselves in a wonderful light to the general public, hiding GMO’s through lobbyists and putting their own people in positions of world power. They attempt to keep the stories of farmers losing their land to them because of rogue seeds out of the media. And all the lawsuits. My goodness, the lawsuits.

If they wish to feed the world bio weapons and GMOs, then that is their prerogative. But they should be more proud of what they created. Let the world know what products has your ingredients in them. Proudly Grown With Monsanto. At least then we wouldn’t be so apt to be as critical. Because you are honest. (I should write this directly at them because I have learned from the past that they and some government officials will be crawling all over this blog since I called them by their real name). They are a big company, easily capable of destroying my reputation, or my homestead, but why would they? I am a lowly blogger.

All I want is honesty in marketing. For them to stop hiding behind a banner of health, and saving the world and to allow GMO’s and chemicals used to be listed. Do they really think they will go bankrupt if this happens. Hell no! To keep up with the Jones, people are addicted to their products, the latest and greatest.

But let’s put on a happy facade. No shame at all to what you as the farm mom of the year is feeding the world. A mom’s smiling face telling the world the all is well. Wonderful PR strategy.

Of course I could be so completely off and they are an organic company that’s rivals have spread nasty rumors about. Why not? Shrug, it could happen.
