Feds Admit Drying Up Ammo Supplies
Napolitano to Congress: Contract was for up to ’1-point-whatever billion’ rounds
WND
At least police departments and other gun owners now know what’s creating a shortage of ammunition across the nation: It IS the federal government, as those online reports, including several at WND, have explained.
Word came just now when Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano was talking to members of Congress and was asked about the ammunition issue.
There have been a multitude of headlines about massive government purchases of ammunition, so that manufacturers have been unable to keep up with the admittedly rising demand from consumers alarmed that the Obama administration will succeed with its agenda of banning many kinds of firearms.
Napolitano was being asked by Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., about the reports of the purchases, and she explained her department dismissed the concerns when they arose, not feeling it was worth a response.
She said the widely reported purchase of 1.6 billion rounds – enough for many years of a war at the rate ammunition is used by the U.S. military these days – was right. At least she thought so.
“This was a five-year strategic sourcing contract for up to one-point-whatever billion rounds,” she confirmed.
The actual reports have contained the figure 1.6 billion rounds. And calculations done by the Washington Examiner suggest that would be enough for “something like a 24-year supply of ammunition on hand.’

Napolitano is a little slow, we already knew that.
I think it is also worth mention the military refuses to sell (or even give away) any of their used brass. IF the military would sell their used brass they could partially or completely recooperate the cost of ammo.
But this would make sense, help everybody and be a benefit – all three of which are immedately disassociated with the US Gov’t
they do sell used brass, .223 and .40 on the gov. action site. google gov. action.
they sell it by 15 tons.
24 MONTH supply after Obama’s private army rounds up or kills those ‘belligerents’ as loosly defined under the Patriot Act. The impending economic crash will be the martial law trigger…..
The reason the military is not selling its used brass is that the brass is worth more as scrap metal.
Military is just trying to get the most money for there used brass and right now scrap dealers are paying more.
I know doesn’t sound like something the US government would do right? I mean our government is actually making money on the deal rather than loosing money on the deal,
If you notice all the types of ammo that are scarce are the ones for the guns with high capacity magazines.
And now that ammunition suppliers know, hopefully, they’ll limit how many rounds per year will be sold to government agencies. If private citizens can only buy a limited number of rounds per visit, the government must be limited on the number of round they can buy.
There wouldn’t be an ammo shortage if these ammo companies would stop doing business with these traitors. Ammo manufacturers are just as much to blame as the DHS.
You can’t even find any 22 LR ammo. And that has been going on for months and months.
What is the useful life of that ammunition? There is a useful life I am sure. Will the powder get unstable after a period of time? What about the primer?
