G-8 Summit, Drones All In Northern Ireland

8,000 officers and three surveillance drones will protect visiting dignitaries and monitor protests during the G-8 summit in June, this from a Northern Ireland police commander.

This annual gathering of some of the worlds most important leaders, including the United States, Britain, Russia, Japan, Germany, France, Italy and Canada is expected like every other year to inspire left-wing demonstrations in Northern Ireland and the neighboring Rupublic of Ireland. This could also lead to the splinter groups of the IRA (Irish Republican Army) to mount even more attacks .

On Thursday, Assistant Chief Constable Alistair Finlay told a Catholic-Protestan board on that oversees police operations his force would deploy 4,500 officers and 3,500 more would come from Britain.

The purchase of three surveillance drones was approved by the board for the event. Finlay said the G-8 was the biggest high-security event ever mounted in Northern Ireland.

The summit will happen June 17-18 at a lakeside resort near Enniskillen.

This could have the possibility of leading to something bigger, with it taking place in Northern Ireland. Even though most people around the world like to think that the troubles that are part of their history are over, we couldn’t be more wrong. The IRA splinter groups are still very much apart of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
