Why Republicans Have Better Policies for the Poor

As we all know fairly well, a new immigration proposal is being pushed through Washington. With Democrats and R.I.N.O.s on board with this bill, it seems likely to pass. This proposal would legalize over 11 million illegal aliens who crossed the border unlawfully. The measures to secure the border do not come until after the legalization. Although the bill claims it will not allow for citizenship until border needs are met, that clearly is not going to happen. No one is just going to keep these illegals in limbo until the border is secure. And even if they do secure the border, the last thing we need are 11 million more Democratic voters who will rack up the unemployment rate. Ergo, even if the border is secure, amnesty should be irrelevant. The bill, mostly supported by Democrats, is just another example of how the Democratic platform secretly hates the lower class.

Any poor or uneducated American should be vehemently opposed to this immigration policy. The bill shows an absolute disregard for the economics of the lower class. More amnesty would mean that there would be more competition, a lot more competition, especially among manual laborers and poorer Americans. When there is over 12% unemployment among people with no high school degree, the last thing we need to do is throw in 11 million more of them. It at first blew my mind to think that even Democrats could be in support of something that would impoverish so many more Americans and enormously smash the lower class. Yet as I researched further, I soon realized that, contrary to popular belief, the Democrats do not have the best interests of the poor in mind — Republicans do.

From policy to policy, Republicans have better policies for bringing people out of poverty, whereas Democrats expand it. The big problem with the liberalism that Democrats are currently embracing is that it kills jobs and hurts all Americans, but particularly the lower class. Let me give some examples.

The regulation of businesses is probably the most harmful thing that ever happened to the working class of America. As regulation has increased (thank you, liberals), millions of jobs have gone overseas to India, Indonesia, China, and dictatorships in the Middle East. Thanks to overbearing regulations, Saudi Arabia, a country run by a dictator who doesn’t allow women to vote, drive, or, up until last month, attend spectator events, is the second largest petroleum provider to the United States. Jobs that should be employing the working class of America are being sent overseas to help buy more jewels for an oppressive and misogynistic tyrant in Saudi Arabia. Poor Americans’ wallets gets pummeled in the name of regulation, which Republicans oppose, and Democrats support.

As well as being job killers through regulations, crime policies created by the Democrats have caused the deaths of thousands in the working class, while Republican policies have greatly reduced the crime epidemic among poor Americans. New York City is a good example of my point. For 20 years between the 1970s and the early 1990s, New York City became increasingly violent. From the Democratic mayors of Ed Koch to David Dinkins, crime in New York City became some of the worst in the entire country. Finally, though, when Rudy Giuliani came into office in 1993, Republican ideals were implemented, and the crime rate plummeted. This was all thanks to stop-and-frisk programs coupled with police crackdowns on crime. After decades of Democratic mayors in NYC passing ineffective crime reduction measures, crime finally was curbed as soon as a Republican came into office, and was able to do things his way. Coincidence? I think not.

Additionally, the opposition to school choice from Democrats has discouraged students and caused for several generations of crime-ridden poor neighborhoods. Instead of requiring students to go to failing public schools, Republicans want to give children the option to opt out of a public school so that they can go somewhere else, like a private school or a charter school — at an enormously discounted price. Not only does this raise competition between schools (which is a great incentive to get teachers to work hard), but it also keeps inner city and poor kids who couldn’t otherwise afford a proper education a chance of experiencing one. Parents would be given an allotted amount of money to go to the school of their choice, whether it be a charter school, a private school, a religious school, or a public school, if they so chose. Democrats, though, are not allowing this, as they believe it “assaults public education.” But at the end of the day, I would much rather be “assaulting public education” (whatever that means) than denying quality education to underprivileged children. The poor have been absolutely crushed by terrible public school systems, and we owe it to them to give them some alternatives.

With crime being the highest among poor Americans, the last thing that we need is to take away their right to defend themselves. Democrats continue to oppose guns, and try to tell law-abiding citizens what they can and cannot have to defend themselves. Meanwhile, there is a clear correlation between increased gun ownership and lower crime rates. So if crime is worst among the poor, and if the increased presence of guns reduces crime, then why are Democrats trying to take them away from them? The last thing that the poor community needs is to be totally helpless when faced with an intruder — who most of the time is a Democrat.

Welfare is a terrible thing for most of the poor. It sounds ridiculous to make the suggestion that giving money to poor people is a bad thing, but it is, and it has incredibly negative societal impacts. The Democrats are successfully eroding at peoples’ individuality, so that they have one loyalty, and that is to the government. From Obamacare to excessive welfare programs, the poor are being exploited in an attempt to get votes. The Democrats have never cared about the poor; they just spoil them with money and make them dependent to the government in their quest to get votes and stay in power. And unfortunately, it is working. 6 in 10 people making less than $50,000 last year voted for Barack Obama. The poor community needs to understand that Republicans will give you more opportunities to get jobs, and will expect you to take them, rather than just spoon-feeding you with money for doing nothing with your life. Coming out of the poor and into the “American Dream” is somewhat impossible with Democratic policies, and only can be achieved with job-abundant Republicans.

As Elbert Guillory said in his viral video about why he became a Republican, “the idea that blacks, or anyone for that matter, need the government to get ahead in life is despicable.” Democratic policies have failed the poor, from New York City to Detroit. Republican policies, on the other hand, have led to lower crime rates, lower unemployment, and have been much better for the working poor in this country.

So why are the poor voting for Democrats? Well, I think there are a number of factors, but the most significant would probably be that the working poor generally do not have the resources to get their information from anywhere else other than the media. And as we all know, the media is a puppet to the Democratic Party. The way to change the votes of the working class is to inform them. Studies show that Republicans are more informed than their Democratic rivals. It is my belief that if the working class became  informed in an unbiased manner, they too would become Republicans.

The media portrays the Republican Party as elitist and hating of the poor. But that is simply not true. The more we inform people, the more likely they are to become Republicans. Only when we actively work to inform the populace will the Republicans win another election.
