Plants, trees and flowers can be very pretty. Just think of the Dutch tulip fields pictured on the right for instance. Flowers especially can often make someones day. Not all flora are like that though. Sometimes a pretty looking flower can be downright deadly. In this list, we present you with the 10 most bad ass plants, flowers and trees that we could find. Pretty as they might be, you do not mess with these or you pay the price…

 10. Western Water Hemlock – Cicuta douglasii

This plant is bad news for animals and humans. It grows in the USA and is famous for being the most poisonous plant in North America. The poisonous substantion ‘Cicutoxin’ is produced in the plants roots. The toxicity can induce seizures for both animals and humans. The intake of a very small amount of the poison even, can lead to a person’s death.

 9. The Manchineel – TreeHippomane Mancinella

It is the world’s most dangerous tree. When it is raining while you are standing beneath the tree, it can cause blistering on your whole body. The tree also produces a fruit that, when ingested, can lead to an excruciating dead from within.

8. Coconut tree – Cocos nucifera

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards fell out of a coconut tree a few years back and needed head surgery. This can be very dangerous. If you happen to be vacationing somewhere and Keith Richards falls out of the coconut tree you happen to be relaxing beneath, it can kill you. In all seriousness, falling coconuts kill 150 people a year on average. We thought that made it worthy of a spot on this list…

 7. The Sheep Eater - Puya Chilensis

It does not technically kill sheep but it entraps them in its spines and it causes the sheep to trip. Sheep have a hard time getting up when they trip and eventually the sheep die. When it does, it becomes lambchops for the plant. It feeds on the sheep and absorbs them.

 6. Castor oil plant – Ricinus communis

4-8 of its seeds can kill you. It is a really nice death also… Pooping blood and a burning throat are among the symptoms. Up to 8 seeds will take care of almost any creature, (ox, horse, pig, human, you name it) but strangely enough it takes more than 80 seeds to kill a duck.

Do not be scared the next time someone gives you flowers. Just admire their beauty and do not ingest them.
