We are forming an organization that is like the ACORN of old in everything but the name

The left wing group (community organizer) ACORN may be gone but according to David Freelander of the Daily Beast, they are back and better than ever giving the term divide and conquer a whole new meaning.

In 2009, a series of videos were released in which workers at several offices of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) appeared to advise a young couple on how to hide prostitution activities and avoid taxes, resulting in news media and political uproar. The videos, which were recorded secretly by conservative activists Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe (the “young couple”), were released on Fox News and the website BigGovernment.com from September into November 2009. Highlander says, “Four years later, it appears as if those shouts of celebration from the likes of Sarah Palin, Andrew Breitbart, and Rush Limbaugh may have been premature. That’s because from Florida to California, dozens of entities have sprung up in the wake of ACORN, many of them with the same leadership and doing the same work that the group did for 40 years. Basically what they have done is relocate all of the major organizers from Acorn and put them in cities all over the country to start over again by creating new groups with different names but it’s actually ACORN.

Now the ex-ACORN organizers want the Palins, Limbaughs, and Breitbarts of the world to know that rumors of their demise are greatly exaggerated. “The work always goes on,” said Brian Kettenring, a former ACORN organizer who is now co-executive director of the Center for Popular Democracy, which helped lead a three-day encampment in front of the Department of Justice to protest foreclosures and [lax?] federal banking regulations. “These are some of the best organizers in the country, and the corporate abuse of low-wage workers continues apace, so the need to organize never changes.” According to Lewis, the former ACORN CEO, do not be surprised if these now-disparate groups around the country join forces again, forming an organization that is like the ACORN of old in everything but the name.

In the past ACORN has conducted large-scale voter registration drives since (at least the 1980s), focusing primarily on registering poor and minority citizens. During the 2008 election season, ACORN gathered over 1.3 million voter registration forms in 21 states of which they later admitted, 400,000 were duplicates. No doubt Hillary Clinton will benefit from ACORNS new organizations under assumed and various names just like Obama did: The great community organizing Obama did was through the radical Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). ACORN was notoriously known for its radical, and often illegal, practices and adherence to the radical philosophy of Saul Alinsky.

According to the Washington Post, Alinsky’s “disciples hired Barack Obama, a 23 year old Columbia University graduate to organize black residents on the Southside, while learning and applying Alinsky’s philosophy of street level democracy.” Following the DNC Convention, Saul Alinsky’s son, L.David Alinsky, (Saul Alinsky’s son) wrote a letter to the Boston Globe.

“Barack Obama’s training in Chicago by the great community organizers is showing his effectiveness,” the son wrote. “I am proud to see that my father’s model for organizing is being applied successfully beyond local community organizing to affect the Democratic campaign in 2008. It’s a fine tribute to Saul Alinsky as we approach his 100th birthday.” The catholic Exchange
