Yes they use iron fragments to fortify some cereals. Yes iron is a metal. Yes it is attracted to a magnet. Yes we need it in our bodies. Yes they could use a different type of iron that is more bio-available.
I would be more worried about the pesticides and chemical contaminants than iron!

Yes — Iron, in the wrong time and place, is a literal poison.

“The first indication of iron poisoning by ingestion is a pain in the stomach, as the stomach lining becomes ulcerated. This is accompanied by nausea and vomiting. The pain then abates for 24 hours as the iron passes deeper into the body resulting in metabolic acidosis, which in turn damages internal organs, particularly the brain and the liver. The body goes into shock and death from liver failure.”

It took more effort, in the long run, to adulterate the food, than to grow and prepare it, using conventional means.

Think about it. Which is more common, agrochems or poop.

What trouble does someone have to go through, to find dirty iron deposits, extract them from hard rocks, and make this into clean(ish) filings.

Wouldn’t just-plain corn have been adequate?

If not, how about some unadulterated meat, milk, fruit, or vegetables?

I totally agree, back to good ole nature would be best, but unfortunately with our food industry filling people with empty sugars and starch this may be the only vitamins and minerals alot of people see.
I for one eat as natural as I can, organic as feasible, but most people either cant afford to or don’t see food as an importance. They would rather buy the new Xbox one for their kids than some good ole natural untainted foods!
So many nutritionally neglected kids rely on supplementation. It is sad but it is what it is, until people start smartening up.
