Three-quarters of US under Declared Emergency. 'Lawd now we in a power outage with all this dang snow. Lord please its cold' Obama called to action

Winter Storm Update Jan. 29 9:30 A.M. EST

Thirty-six governors have officially declared a State of Emergency due to two things: an arctic blast slamming the Midwest down through Gulf states up the east coast, and America’s addiction to fossil fuels. Millions are stranded at home without heat.

With no end in sight until warmer weather arrives in the mid-west, President Barack Obama has been called on to “act” in today’s crisis that has left millions of Americans cold Wednesday.

Thousands of southerners awakened to no heat after a brutal winter storm began slamming the Deep South yesterday. Frozen tree branches fell on power lines. Hundreds of thousands were stranded on highways.

The storm has left at least seven people dead in the Gulf region alone. Gulf coast officials warn that tonight will be as tough on residents. They continue telling peope to stay off the roads.

Meanwhile, many Americans are bundled at home with no heat.

LAWD NOW WE IN A POWER OUTAGE WITH ALL THIS DANG SNOW LORD PLEASE ITS COLD,” tweeted Ar ShiNeQue ‏@ShineQ4U at 8:10 A.M., this morning.

Georgia remains worst hit. Governor Nathan Deal failed to declare a state of emergency until hundreds of thousands people were in harm’s way, including children stuck at school and on buses without provisions.

Hundreds of maintenace crews and National Guardsmen are frantically working  to rapidly restore power this morning before the south takes another cold blow tonight.

“We may go above freezing for a few hours this afternoon in some of these locations, but we go right back down tonight,” said Tom Niziol with The Weather Channel this morning. “Things are going to freeze right back up and it’s going to be another day before we can open up these roadways in many of the metro locations in the Southeast.”

Atlanta took the hardest blow Tuesday, causing what some are calling an apocalyptic scene. Businesses and schools closed early Tuesday, sending hundreds of thousands of people onto slick snowy roads at the same time. On crowded roads, people ran out of gas and were forced to ditch their cars. Thousands had not made it home at 10:00 last night.

Students across Georgia were stranded waiting for buses or on buses. Many spent the night at schools last night. Several buses attempted to get students home. They were, however, forced to return to schools as road conditions worsened, according to ajc.com. Schools districts across the state will be closed Wednesday.

Gov. Nathan Deal failed to declare a state of emergency until Tuesday night. The National Guard sent military Humvees onto the city’s snarled freeway system to attempt moving stranded school buses and get food and water to students on them.

Deal said early this morning that DOT crews will continue working today to clear gridlocked highways, but drivers are being told that when they get home, “stay there.”

The weather struck a gentler blow to south Louisiana than expected Tuesday. There are still isolated power outages across our service territory, but there were thousands more, only for several minutes.

“Entergy crews responded to scattered outages throughout Tuesday, restoring power to the majority of customers within a couple of hours.”

New Orleans is advising that while initial stages of the winter storm didn’t cause significant damage, the storm system is still passing across South Louisiana.

In New Orleans and St. Bernard Parish, 8,000 customers were without power but Entergy Corp. spokeswoman Charlotte Cavell said a crew fixed that within five minutes.

“Crews will remain on alert as the winter weather system continues to move through the region.”

“Just a rule of thumb, if it’s south of I-20, it’s probably frozen,” said Willie Huff of the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

All the way up the Virginia coast, school districts are closed today.

Officials in many cities are pleading that all non-emergency vehicles stay off the roads.

Midwest propane non-renewable energy crisis leaves millions cold

The midwest is struggling to stay warm without propane.

“Prices in some midwest locations have now exceeded $5 per gallon. Such prices are unsustainable for families, farmers and businesses,” wrote Iowa Governor Terry Branstad in a letter to President Obama.

Sub-zero temperatures and strong winds are again sweeping the midwest this week with -55 predicted in the next blast to blanket the midwest this weekend.

This is the same region just hit hard with Winter Storms Hercules and Ian during Christmas and New Year holidays.

“The health and safety of our citizens is our number one priority, and this declaration gives us the necessary resources to protect the residents of Wisconsin,” Wisconsin governor Scott Walker said in a statement. “I will do everything I can within my power to help our friends and loved ones relying on propane to heat their homes or businesses during this challenging situation.”

Wisconsin joined states across the country including Ohio, Maine, Michigan and Minnesota in declaring emergencies.

Under a State of Emergency, states can relax transportation rules on the number of hours truck drivers can work, among other measures.

Pennsylvania-based AmeriGas, the largest US propane retailer, said last week it was rationing deliveries in parts of Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee to 100 gallons per customer from the standard delivery of some 250 gallons.

“We exposed all the weaknesses in the system.” Energy market analyst Phil Flynn of Price Futures Group said, adding no end is in sight until warmer weather arrives.

Renewable energy proponents say this is a clarion call about Americans’ health and security.

Any one else for renewable energy instead of this mess and hardship creating a national security risk?

      • energymight

How would renewable energy help these people in this situation. We have solar – nope not these past few days for obvious reasons. We have wind – sure the wind was blowing, but the snow and freezing rain were too and I know that turbines freeze-up in these scenarios.

You want to know what is creating the national security risk in energy? The fact that we do not explore and develop our own oil and natural gas to make us self-sufficient and free of foreign dependency. If the Keystone pipeline were allowed to be built a lot of these shortages would never have happened – just as one example.

Please do not try the environmental save the spotted frog stuff on me b/c it has been proven to be another way to stop us from taking care of ourselves so a select domestic/foreign elite can get rich selling us oil and gas. Deborah – due respect renewable energies as they are now are riddled with pitfalls and there is NO WAY they would put a 1% dent in our overall energy demand and especially the people dealing with the weather right now. Come on, the global warming green scam is what brought all this to the forefront. Nice Global Warming we see today!! The past 15 years have gotten colder and expecting more. They will say that the fact it has gotten colder is a side effect of Global Warming. How self-serving to these people who want to take our freedoms in the guise of saving ourselves from ourselves (i.e. man-[made global warming, right?).

Lastly, folks this is a perfect example how you just cannot rely on anyone, especially the govt, to come to your rescue. These people should have been prepared, even if is a rare occurrence. I put the sales of back-up Generators (BUGs) goes up after this. People should have them along with everything else to sustain. Talk about a national security risk too – a totally unprepared citizenry majority. Thanks!

        • You People Are Nuts

maybe we can find a way to turn our urine into a fuel…..or fossil feces?

        • Paul Brown

Your point on preparedness is well taken. We should all be doing a better job of that because the government isn’t preparing for anything except to suppress dissent. We should be spending more on self-reliance and less on useless toys and entertainment.
But there are ust a few things wrong with your comment.
Turbines don’t freeze up They helped fill the gap in the states that were hardest hit.
The new oil and gas we’re producing isn’t helping with energy independence, it’s being exported – while we import foreign oil. The Keystone pipeline would provide oil almost entirely for export. Fossil fuel companies make more money this way.
As for the capacity of renewables, your comment is totally unjustified, since they have already well exceeded the 1% level, and could reach 100% by 2020 if we made it a priority instead of welfare for the fossil fuel companies.
As for global warming, public opinion is more influenced by dollars than by facts. The warming denial industry spends $900 million a year and probably less than a tenth that amount is available for climate education based on real science. The deniers don’t have as much overhead, of course – they don’t do any real research.
In point of fact the last decade has been the hottest on record globally.
All of this information is easily available on the Web. Just go to sites provided by real climate scientists doing real climate science.

        • Freeamerican

Idiots. Chemtrails. The holohoax jews that run america and the world (thezog.worpress.com) control weather with the chemtrails and elf/haarp, the chemtrails dumps also have nano-tech nanobots that you are inhaling. They’re doing this to make chaos and profit from destroying property for their jew insurance companies that get re-insurance scheme payouts from the government – meaning our taxes. The chemtrails cause storms when they want and drought when they want. jabbering about ‘climate’ is idiot distraction, chemtrails, elf/haarp, jew media scums, colleges cover up chemtrails. Get educated on chetmrails, don’t fall for the psy ops chemtrail sites either, good video ‘weather wars geo engineering bio engineering. Quit buying things, quit voting.

There is simply not enough power available from renewables to support the current economic and monetary system. Over-simplistic example: Where in the world is a solar panel or windmill generator manufactured in a factory that is powered from renewable sources? Perhaps a handful, if any.

Unless we change the way money works, we change nothing.

        • DOOMSDAY!

TRY THE MOON! THERE WERE PLANS TO BUILT A LARGE SOLAR PLANT ON THE SURFACE OF THE MOON!

THE ENERGY WOULD BE MICROWAVED OUT!

DID YOU NOT PLAY SIMCITY 2000?

        • Deborah Dupre

Thanks Brisa, for reading this, but with all due respect – there simply IS enough power available from renewables to support today’s economy and monetary system.

Too bad the Big Energy globalists have had so much money to put into propaganda that’s brainwashing good folks to think otherwise.

The petrodollar will change when and only when we the people take control of our own energy.

        • Freeamerican

dupre You are not ‘we’, you’re a jew and fake truther pretending to be a hero, changing your photo doesn’t cover up. Your ‘engery globablists’ are you jews. If your so concerned why don’t you tell your jew tribe to get out of America go to your holohoax israel and take your bankers, media, government lackeys, illegals and chemtrails, drones and ndaa with you. Fake.
          No more leaders. Quit voting.

      • energymight

Also we had clean-burning coal technology, but the current admins EPA is pretty much about to shut down all coal plants. Could have used them the past couple of days!! Today we are actually keeping it together in most of these frigid places b/c the utilities have dispatched one ace in their pocket: their respective Demand Response programs. Nearly all are dispatched as we speak. This is where the utility pays a huge energy user, like a factory down the street or a water plant, etc to curtail their energy use to avoid blackout. So, if your lights are still on in these areas, you can thank your local companies and employers b/c they are probably down to give YOU the energy and stop a blackout. Sure they get paid a little, but it is not huge. They are doing as a service to your community. Hey – not all corporations are ‘evil’ right?

      • Pateriot

Are you referring to the global cooling… caused by the global warming… caused by your Capitalistic lifestyle? What they need is salt trucks and better tires in the South. This is normal weather in Michigan.

    • Paul Brown

Thanks for your important coverage of this disaster, especially the midwest people without heat due to propane shortages. I look forward to further coverage of how renewables can alleviate that problem in an age of more frequent and more powerful winter storms brought on by global warming. Yes, global warming conyinues: http://www.ucsusa.org/global_warming/science_and_impacts/science/cold-snow-climate-change.html, contrary to the deniers.

    • Heart Of Winter

This is the winter weather that constitutes a “state of emergency” in the midwest?

Here in Montana, it can snow 3 feet in one night and they don’t even cancel school. Not even kidding. And it never makes the national news either.

For midwesterners, it might be a “state of emergency”. For a Montanan, it would be an average winter Wednesday.

      • COCONUT

Well, I totally agree with you. Out here in Qc, winter’s winter. However, down there if your town doesn’t snowplows or salt to disperse, you’re in trouble. Although motorists will have to buy REAL SNOW TIRES (studded) and take winter driving courses. Have winter parkas, snowmobile boots and gloves, shovels and tracks to dig yourself out, etc. ready in your car in case of emergency.

    • bobk90

Hey this is “Just TRAINING” for the REAL THING, whenever Obama decides to Pull the Trigger and Declare ‘MARTIAL LAW’ to officially become DICTATOR-IN-CHIEF

      • conspirator

Stray bullets tend to find puppets who break loose from their strings.

      • Anonymous

Training? This is a disaster. It is the REAL THING. Weather is a weapon!

    • AJjj100

I have solar and a small turbines and they both work great in any temperature. The coldest temp my wind turbine has seen was -29 degrees and it didn’t freeze-up in fact it worked perfectly. It works in any temperature.

      • energymight

AJjj100, Hello! There is always the exception. on a cloudy, snowy day where the photovoltaic cells are covered…I know for a fact they do not work well then. I have seen with ice storms where the turbines freeze-up on windmills. Know just enough to be dangerous on this subject, but I am not saying you are not accurately displaying your experience. Finally, I still say that there is just not enough ‘power’ in renewable’s regardless to power our national grid. Period. Maybe one day, but we should not destroy our current system right (as they are trying) in hope we will one day figure it out. That’s suicide, but hey, maybe that’s the plan.

    • Lee

they a couple inches of snow in Atlanta, no big deal, there problem was a bunch of stupid people, learn how to drive, or stay home

      • CarriedbyGrace

Their, not “there”. And for the record, you are correct, we do not often deal with these types of freezing rain/snow events and such hazardous driving conditions. Since I live here I can tell you that many people were forced to leave work/school and had no other options but to get in their cars and attempt to get home and/or to schools to pick up children. Have a little compassion. The nice thing is, many reached out and opened their homes and businesses overnight to those who were stranded in the cold. Can’t say that would happen in all parts of this rotten nation but here in the south, we do take care of our own.

    • crabby

just point HARRP the other direction..

    • Alphadog

Georgia? TWO INCHES OF SNOW. Happens every time. Im a Georgia boy but having survived three blizzards up north, this is pretty much of a joke.
My solar works great in the snow. So much diffuse solar radiation bouncing around. Even the thermal panels work great. Are you sure you have solar there mister?
Two billion barrels of oil in the Pac NW. No one ever even used the term ‘billions’ describing oil reserves. Oil pipeline was shut down due to Buffet, Obama’s pal, getting his railroad back up and running to make more billions shipping the oil to the Gulf. Only to be shipped offshore. The FED should build a refinery in the Pac NW because no one else will due to the strict regs. Then, refine the oil, sell it worldwide and pay off the national debt in about three years. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO DO IT. It would also bring the price of petrol down to less than a dollar a gallon in the US and in a lot of other countries. Then lease the facility to the highest bidder for long term income. PROBLEM SOLVED!!

    • teapartyguardian

Shut down the EPA and there will be no shortage of fuel. Global warming idiots come in all colors…..especially COMMIE RED,

    • ronin

I feel terrible for the people who got caught in this weather. My prayers go out to all of those who have children and older family members effected by this. I am sure, with out a doubt that most of the “victims” are in the more urban areas. Lets be honest, people who live in the big cities have become either more dependent on the Government for support and have forgotten how to be self sufficient or lack the space needed for proper preparations, yes, I am a “prepper”. Before you start laughing let me say that I have many friends across the Country and most of them are preppers also. Those that are, are not too worried about the weather. We have been gearing up for these types of emergencies. We have candles, blankets, firewood where available and alternate heating and cooking sources. We are stocked up with food and water and do not need to rely on the local market for food every few days. In short, we are geared up for the long haul when it comes to the SHTF. All that aside, if you are in a position to help your neighbors during this crisis, then PLEASE do so. We as preppers should not be laughing, pointing fingers and saying “I told you so”. We need to get involved and make a difference for the good. Thank you, good luck to all who are caught in this mess and GOD bless.

Everyone complaining ‘they aren’t doing enough’, you better be very careful.

36-governors just declared a state of emergency, only 4-days out from the superbowl. This automatically turns on a feature of the NDAA (national defense authorization act), where Obama can activate National Guard, military, and all other functions – until no more ‘state of emergency’ is evident.

Now, common sense says if you are in a state of emergency, you wouldn’t hold the Super Bowl, right? Wrong. It is still planned. HOWEVER, now you have 36-states where the military can be directly activated too.

Odds are strong for another 9-11 event, with NJ and the Super Bowl being the target – conventiently, the troops will already be active and serving. The sheeple will love it, and applaud the government who feeds them, clothes them, waters them – and no one is going to pay that much attention to how conveniently all this fell into place.

Planned? You bet it is. Wait and see.

      • Deborah Dupre

This IS a concern. It was 1st thing that crossed my mind when I added the number of states under a State of Emergency.

Unsure about Super Bowl. Just seems way to predictable.

Now, when it comes to poisoning 300k and not telling them when it is known, not providing medical prevention aid for them straight away and instead pussy-footing around while the poison eats away inside West Virginians – I WILL complain. We’ve become so complacent even when being stabbed in the back or poisoned to death.

It’s 23′ here in Michigan right now, spring is in the air!

Light jecket weather, few more degrees and we’ll be breaking out the shorts and getting the mortorcycle ready to ride.

So is Al Gore going to want to tax us to bring back global warming???

      • Deborah Dupre

Don’t get me started on Gore. Wrote a piece on him once, let’s see – I think it was called, “The gory truth about mind control,’ because of his role in further brainwashing.

So no propane problem where you are, eh? Glad for you.

Happy Springish. And happy Black Moon Rising.

    • Rip

This is part of a pole shift of our planet. So you thought that you could escape the FREEZE by going South. You cannot escape the FREEZE. This is a polar shift of major proportions. Mother Earth doesn’t have adequate resources for you. Do you what happens when a dog gets too many fleas? Mother Earth is like that dog with too many fleas, only in this case, we are talking about people. The population on this planet is too much for Mother Earth to handle and survive.

It does such when the heat goes out in a cold snap, the first cold snap had my forced air heating unit ( they are so annoying and use to much water, gas was better ) died out, after only being used for 2 months, in this new home.

It was freezing outside -35 with wind chill and I had to have the oven on and open blasting at 450 the whole time or with in 10 mins the house got real cold. 4 days of that has me feeling so bad for anyone having to deal with the situation.

You can make a neat brazier simply to heat your home temp

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzKbFzUEWkA

It does work I did it when my heat went off, and it is good to know if there is ever any trouble like this in the future. Keep warm, safe and vigilant for fires in the home.

When you google this, this is the only site that says “Thirty-six governors have officially declared a State of Emergency”..Here in the midwest were the I have 8 feet of snow, and the avg temp is -5 in the winter no state of emergency, nor the 3 states around me…you do you get this from?
