The Renewed Push for Carbon Taxes

You’re sure to be hearing about it soon. A new UN sponsored study has discovered that there is quite possibly a 99% chance Human’s are behind climate change( No not global warming that was before Climategate). Shaun Lovejoy, a professor with McGill published an article with Climate Dynamics this week and noted, “This study will be a blow to any remaining climate-change deniers,” Lovejoy says. “Their two most convincing arguments – that the warming is natural in origin, and that the computer models are wrong – are either directly contradicted by this analysis, or simply do not apply to it.” Lovejoy’s study follows two others from Stockholm and Japan all pointing the finger at human industry being the cause of climate change. Is this Climategate 2.0 or the real thing? The NYtimes wrote that the UN report does not prescribe government actions, however, “ it does make it clear that putting a price on emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, either through taxes or the sale of emission permits, is a fundamental approach that could help redirect investment toward climate-friendly technologies.” The report was welcomed by the State Department and so the push for carbon taxes in North America and Europe has begun, again.
