DEBUNKED: Massive Underwater Entrance Discovered Off The California Coast

Another story that needs attention is this Massive Underwater Entrance Discovered Off The California Coast story on BIN.  That story, found here, contains an image via Google Earth off the coast of Malibu, in the Ventura County portion of Southern California.  This image is not what it seems.

Underground images are not as precise as the surface images due to piecing them together.  These elevation data sets are put together in tiles and the “pillars” that make this look like a cave are actually an image processing error.

To the east of this feature are more pillars.  This is a cliff feature caused by an offshore fault in the area.  Southern California has a lot of fault activity and this is no different.  Many faults criss-cross the offshore zones of this region.  This particular fault is uprising, causing the Santa Monica Mountains, which runs east to west through the Malibu areas … causing the Malibu Hills, ending near Ventura to the west.

Zoom in and check where the image blends into this feature.  The feature with the pillars is not even a real dataset.  In fact, the platform is just a smooth underground hill caused by the fault, and since they didn’t get the dataset to put the southern edge of the hill there, the end result was a straight line (cliff), which caused this. 

Google Earth is not good at cliff areas.  Look-up Half-Dome in Yosemite National Park.  The cliff-side has weird patterns as well.  Again, Google Earth has to compensate for the areas that it has no images and or/data for.

So there is no pillar, no cave, no anything off the California Coast.  This is just an error, perceived by lower class humans with no sense of scientific knowledge … Just look for yourself at other areas under the sea.  They have the same pillar look …

Also take a look at the sun angle change on this feature.  Clearly this person who thought of the cave theory lacks the knowledge of shadows.  So I went above it and moved the sun angle to reveal these are nothing more that straight edges, likely not even processed correctly. 

I leave you with the image below of an mage artifact made the same way as the underground cave looking one.  This looks like some type of broken wood miles long off the Orange County Coast, near an Oil Platform, marked south of there.  It’s not, it’s just an image processing error that needed to be filled in with elevation data to create it on Google Earth.
