Massive Group of Unruly Teens Attack Three People in Kroger Parking Lot

A Kroger store in Memphis, Tennessee, was the scene of a shocking and brutal mob attack Saturday night.

Three people, two of them teens who work at Kroger, were viciously attacked by a large group of teenagers in the store’s parking lot around 9:15 pm.

A witness, who did not want to be identified, described the chilling scene to WREG:

The witness says the mob of young teens viciously ran through the Poplar Plaza parking lot assaulting complete strangers.

It was maybe about 100 to 125 kids. It was a lot of kids,” said the witness.

“Is that an exaggeration?” asked WREG’s Elise Preston.

“No, it`s not an exaggeration,” replied the witness.

The incident was caught on cell phone video, which shows one of the victims lying still on the ground while others repeatedly kicked and stomped on his head.

“They followed hitting him with a pumpkin. He was already unconscious, so all you could see was blood and pumpkins,” said the witness.

The witness explained the motive behind the attack:

“They were playing a game called ‘point them out, knock them out.’ Where they would point someone out and attempt to knock them out or fight them. There was no real reason behind it.”

He also said that the attackers were white, black, male, and female. Two of the victims are two black male teens, and the other is 25-year-old white male.

The witness also told WREG that he watched the mob beat his friends until they couldn’t move, and that this isn’t the first time he’s seen a pack of violent teens attack random people in that parking lot.

“It’s kind of traumatizing because it didn’t seem real. It didn’t seem like any of that would happen.

Why, honestly why? Why did that happen? There was no real reason behind it. What was the point of that game? You are hurting somebody you don`t even know,” said the witness.

Pumpkins weighing around 20 pounds were thrown on the victims’ heads while they were on the ground. Both of the attacked teens lost consciousness. Thankfully, all three victims are doing okay now…well, at least physically.

Memphis Police Director Toney Director Armstrong released a statement to the media:

“We are fully aware of last night’s incidents. It is extremely troubling to see how many young people were involved, especially on the heels of last week’s youth forum.

A lot of our citizens are working to provide safe and productive alternatives for our youth. For those that choose not to take advantage of these opportunities, we will work tirelessly to identify, locate and hold you accountable.

Last night’s events clearly demonstrates a lack of parental controls and if warranted these parents will also be held accountable.”

So far, they have arrested one teen in connection with the attack, and another is being questioned:

The 15-year-old is charged with aggravated riot, and acting in concert: to wit aggravated assault.

According to Mayor Wharton, the teen was out on gun related charges at the time of the attack.

Wharton said the teen was not enrolled in school and his mother was previously charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A juvenile court judge ordered the teen held.

There was no parent at the teen’s hearing.

Police have said the suspect is the individual seen in witness video wearing a lime green shirt.

Two teens were turned in by family members and another is being questioned.
