Saudi Soldiers Killed, Chopper Downed in Jizan

Yemeni forces killed at least 13 Saudi soldiers, and brought down a Saudi Apache chopper in Jizan province in the Persian Gulf kingdom on Saturday.

The Yemeni forces also gained control of buildings behind the Hathirah military camp in the region.

On Friday, Yemen’s al-Masirah TV reported that a senior Saudi commander and two other military staff had been killed in a mine blast in Jizan during clashes with Ansarullah fighters, backed by army units.

The Yemeni forces have downed several Saudi Apache helicopters since the beginning of the Saudi aggression against their nation.

On Sep 20, Yemeni army and popular committees shot down a Saudi Apache helicopter with a missile in the al-Safer area near the city of Ma’rib, Yemeni military sources said.

On Sep 13, Yemen’s air defense forces downed a Saudi Apache helicopter gunship in Ma’rib province.

The Yemeni army’s air defense forces supported by Ansarullah popular committees shot down the helicopter on Sep 13 with a surface-to-air missile in the district of Horaib in the Central province of Ma’rib, al-Manar news channel reported.

 Earlier this month, the Yemeni army and popular forces also shot down a military helicopter of the Emirati army with a surface-to-air missile in a region in Eastern Yemen.

The UAE Apache military chopper exploded after it was hit by the Yemeni forces’ missile in Al-Sa’fer region in Eastern Yemen, killing all the military men on board, the Arabic-language Al-Mayadeen satellite TV reported.

 In a relevant development on August 21, the Yemeni army and popular forces shot down a Saudi military helicopter in the province of Jizan in Southern Saudi Arabia.

 Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 185 days now to restore power to Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 6,252 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.

Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.

Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

Saudi General Killed in Cross-Border Fire from Yemen

The Yemeni forces killed a Saudi border guard general in an artillery attack on al-Khoba region.

“The Saudi border guard commander in al-Khoba region and one of his soldiers were killed in the Yemeni army and popular forces’ operations in al-Khoba,” the Arabic-language al-Masyra television quoted Yemeni sources as saying on Saturday.

The sources did not disclose the name of the Saudi border guard.

In August another Saudi army general was killed by the Yemeni forces in an artillery attack on Jizan province.

Major General Abdulrahman bin Saad Al Shahrani, commander of Saudi Army’s 18th Brigade, had been visiting the troops deployed “on the front lines along the southern region when he had come under enemy fire.

Shahrani had been wounded in the attack and hospitalized, but he had later succumbed to his injuries.

Shahrani is one of the two highest ranking Saudi officers killed in the war with Yemen.

The attack came in retaliation for the Saudi-led aggression against Yemeni people.

Sayyed Nasrallah: Ma’rib battle could open the door on a political solution in Yemen 

On Yemen file, Hezbollah secretary general indicated that militants from many nationalities were fighting in Yemen, and that the failure of the Saudi aggression on Ma’rib could open the door now on a political solution.

As he assured that the Saudi Army’s strength lies in its air force only, he indicated that this entire war was waged on the Yemenis because of their political path which opposes Israel and the United States and supports the resistance.
