ISIS Releases ‘Kill List’ That Includes Dozens of Minnesota Cops
Earlier this week, ISIS affiliated hackers released a ‘kill list’ that included at least 36 police officers from all across Minnesota and the Dakotas. The group responsible for the hack calls itself the Caliphate Cyber Army, and their leak included phone numbers, addresses, and the names of the officers.
The leak was posted on an encrypted messaging app known as Telegram, and included instructions to kill the officers. Screenshots of the list show an ISIS logo over a photo of masked fighters, and a message that reads “Wanted to be Killed.” A spokesman for the St. Paul Police Department has admitted that 4 active duty officers and 1 retired officer from their department has been named in the list, and all have been notified.
It isn’t clear why the identities of these particular officers were chosen, or why the state of Minnesota was targeted. However, the state may not be a random choice. Of all the U.S. citizens that have tried to join ISIS, roughly 25% of them came from Minnesota, so perhaps the terror group has more supporters in the state that would be willing to carry out attacks.
