A few years back my local electric utility tried (really aggressively) to get me to have one of those damn “Smart” meters installed on my house and told them not only NO but HELL NO and to stay the hell off my property !!!!

I have to agree. We have one bedroom in the house where the smart meter is on the outside wall and EVERY SINGLE PERSON that stays in that room for more than a few days gets extremely sick. Myself included. Australia has these on all buildings and it’s illegal to not have one now. The power company will install them as soon as you leave your property the maggots

The utility company in my area tried to install a smart meter about 3 days ago. Thankfully I have dogs and they stopped the man in the driveway. When the barking started I went outside and talked to the worker. I asked him what he needed and he said that he was changing out electric meters. I asked if it was a smart meter and he wouldn’t answer. I asked if the meter recorded and transmitted information and he said yes. I told him I would rather not have that on my home. He told me I could opt out in which I did. It wasn’t a problem (at least not yet). What disturbed me is that if I did not have the dogs to alert me he would have installed the meter without my permission or knowledge. I believe the electric meter should only be used for the purpose it was originally designed for, that being to just indicate how much electricity I am to be billed for. The intent of the smart meter may be innocent now but we all know how quickly something like that (when in the hands of people with ill intent) can be used against you. It is not the business of the utility companies or anyone else to interfere with people’s privacy.
