Jeff Flake brings in the old guns for campaign kickoff

The Flake refuses to support GOP presidential nominee, but wants our vote

The dino duo of John McCain and Jon Kyl is ready to reprise the rusty act that barely squeaked Jeff Flake across the finish line during his maiden senate race. With all of the heavy lifting they did for him, Flake managed a slim 3-point margin of victory in 2012. Former U.S. Surgeon General Richard Carmona, a Democrat George W. Bush appointee who both McCain and Kyl previously supported (video), turned out to be a more formidable foe than expected and Flake never came close to fulfilling the 11-to-16 point projected lead.

The pro-amnesty Arizona Republic newspaper was also giving him grief when he emulated his mentors John McCain and Jon Kyl (brief campaign videos under links) in an effort to win votes, and went hard-line against the illegal invasion.  Flake was scornfully blasted as a mere “politician, no longer a statesman” in an editorial. His politically motivated and momentary change of heart was labeled “jarring.” The editoralist need not have worried. Immediately after warming the seat of his plush chair on the banks of the Potomac, Flake joined McCain on an amnesty scheme.

But this Saturday at an early morning $30 breakfast –your used “souvenir” hot beverage mug is available for an additional $10 —  at a hotel that touts itself as a “3.2-mile drive from the Phoenix Zoo,” the amnesty trio will be glad-handing and making promises. McCain, now in his 80s, will be  4 days away from his sixth six-year senate race results. Yet, he magnanimously finds time to help his doppelganger Jeff Flake. Kyl even took valuable time away from his lucrative duties as a top DC lobbyist at a multinational firm in an effort to ensure smooth sailing for Flake.

Count on their efforts falling on deaf ears. As Conservative Republicans are working tirelessly to get Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump elected, Jeff the Flake has steadfastly and publicly refused to endorse or even vote for Trump. McCain has withdrawn his lukewarm support.

We were proud to support Kelli Ward in that race, and are committed to her success in the upcoming senate race. The stakes are too high to equivocate. Jeff Flake is beatable.
