We Are Power

(RADCHICK) I always wanted to turn this speech into a short film. Today seemed to be the day to do it.

Thank you for the caring, concern, and kindness you have all shown to me during the past 16 months of my illness. I can not adequately express my gratitude by writing and communicating. I still have so much to say, and can no longer do it as I used to. But I will adjust. I am finding some things other people say far more interesting at the moment.

I have looked at John Trudell’s work for a long time, after interviewing with him in 2013. His work and his words are beyond inspirational…and they are brutal truth, raw and beautiful. John Trudell, in this amazing speech made on Thanksgiving Day 1979, shortly after Three Mile Island happened, really says it all about Nuclear Energy. This speech was made 7 years before Chernobyl Accident, and 32 years before the Fukushima Accident.

Today is the 6 year Anniversary of Fukushima and it is hard not to give up. Trudell speaks to the activism fatigue that plagues many of us. We have to recharge, and reclaim our power.

Walking in the woods has always been my favorite way to think, feel, and de-stress. I found this film called “A Year Long Walk In The Woods” and it reminded me of the past year of my life, many of our lives, those we have lost, and those that still need to be found.
