Many people are aware that there are effective natural remedies against pain, but they don’t know how to use them. That’s why we’re writing this article – we’ll show you how to use 6 natural anti-inflammatory remedies which will reduce the pain in your joints and knees.

In order to treat their back, joint or knee pain, many people use over-the-counter medications and prescription drugs such as Ibuprofen. These drugs are sometimes effective, but they never treat the underlying problem and have adverse side-effects as well. Plus, there’s no reason paying for them when nature offers quite a few anti-inflammatory remedies and analgesics that can reduce the pain in various body parts. These remedies are cheap and very effective, and you can prepare them yourself at home.

Rosemary

Rosemary is a powerful aromatic herb often used in aromatherapy and various dishes. Rosemary contains ursolic acid, a powerful compound which can reduce pain and fight infections in the joints. Here’s how to use it against joint and knee pain:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of water
  • 200 g. of rosemary

Preparation

Boil the water in a pot, then add the rosemary and simmer the tea for 20 minutes. Leave it to cool down afterwards, strain it and drink 2 cups of the tea a day for best results.
Horsetail

Horsetail is another powerful anti-inflammatory agent that contains a host of vitamins and minerals that can reduce pain. Drink 2 cups of horsetail tea a day and you will quickly feel relief.

Turmeric

Turmeric is definitely near the top of the list of most powerful natural pain relievers. It is especially effective against any kind of pain when combined with another spice – saffron. Here’s how to use it:

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of powdered turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon of saffron
  • 3 cups of water
  • 3 tablespoons of organic honey

Preparation

Bring the water to a boil, then add the saffron and turmeric and simmer the mixture for 10 minutes. Next, strain the mixture and leave it to cool down, then add the honey and drink the remedy during the day. It will relieve the inflammation in your knees and joints and reduce the pain.

Ginger

Ginger is quite an effective natural pain reliever that can be used in different ways. Here’s a great recipe for your joint and knee pain:

Ingredients

  • 200 g. of grated ginger root
  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

Preparation

Boil the water in a pot, then add the ginger and simmer for 20 minutes. Leave the tea to cool down before straining it, then add the honey and drink it. Repeat the process 2-3 times a day for best results.

Flaxseeds

Flaxseeds possess anti-inflammatory properties and contain numerous essential nutrients that can boost your digestion and strengthen your immune system as well. They are rich in omega-3 fatty acids which can fight inflammation and treat the pain. Take 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseeds a day – you can add them to yogurt, smoothies or salads. Remember not to cook them as the high temperatures can destroy their nutrients and reduce their effects.

Cherries

Many athletes in the USA drink cherry juice before and after workouts due to the fruit’s anti-inflammatory properties. The drink can also help your muscles recover and is very easy to prepare at home. Here’s what you need to do:

Ingredients

  • 300 g. of cherries
  • 1 cup of water
  • 250 g. of brown sugar

Preparation

Mix the cherries and water in a blender, then put the juice in a pot and add the sugar next. Now, simmer the mixture on low heat until the sugar dissolves and make sure to stir constantly. Strain the mixture after about 20 minutes, then pour it into a glass bottle, close it and keep it in the fridge. Add a bit of the cherry syrup in a glass of hot or cold water and drink it before and after your training to prevent muscle cramps and pain afterwards.

I know what joint pain is from my own experience. What worked for me was applying ice to my joints to relieve pain and swelling, and
trying a heating pad to address any muscle spasms around the joint (after a day or so). When the pain was unbearable and I couldn’t fall asleep, I took Ibuprofen (I checked the info about it on the Canadian pharmacy site beforehand).

I have a strong knock in my knees. Is this okay? What medications are suitable to fix this?

    • TaylorTaylor

As far as I know, there are many causes of knocking in the knees. Do not panic in advance, perhaps you have a chance to fix everything. I advise you to read about the most common causes of knock knees here. I’d also suggest that you get an examination by an experienced orthopedic doctor to find out what is causing the problem and how you can fix it.
